Can I take my turtles with me?

I’m 22 and I’m going to be moving from home soon, maybe within the next year. I have three box turtles - one male and two females - that live in outdoor enclosures (my male turtle has to be kept in solitary because he can’t behave himself, if you know what I mean). I’ve read before that you’re not supposed to move box turtles from their established territory, that it could even be fatal to do so. I’m not sure if there’s any truth to that. I don’t want to leave my turtles with my parents when I move. I simply don’t trust them to take proper care of them.

My question is: is it possible to take them with me when I move? And if so, how do I move them so that it causes the least amount of stress foe my turtles?

They’ll be fine. Won’t be fatal. Put them in dark boxes, keep them warm, and they’ll be fine.
Thank you! That makes me feel so much better about moving, I was so scared I’d have to leave them with my parents and wouldn’t be there to make sure they were well taken care of.
