Hey,
My star tortoise dug up the hole in my garden for 2 times. First was around 25 days back and second time she dug was yesterday. The problem is she's not laying eggs. And both the time she dug up at same stop. I also tried to provide her artificial environment but she don't want to sit in enclosure.
I went to vet but it wasn't much help and their sonography machine is broke. And there are no vets near me in 300 km radius. Please suggest me what to do.. I m worried of my star tortoise getting egg bound.

Hi,
I have had my star tortoise, stinky, since 18 yrs. I live in a hot n humid city in a flat (no garden available) stinky is female and has recently layed 4 unfertilised eggs in the span of 6 months.
Her diet includes : kaddu (lauki), lady fingers, French beans (without the seeds), tomatoes, Cucumber, tindli, salad leaves. Although I hv heard of many tortoises enjoying cabbage but stinky seems to hate it. She does enjoy leaves of cauliflower.
Pls inbox me any questions regarding your star... I would be happy to help. 15117632703431874939740.jpg 15117633114611944516882.jpg

hello everyone, my star tortoise is around 1 or 2 years and from some time, time he/ she has been farting at times every day. It comes as a small explosion....is it normal. Please reply if you have any info about it..he is eating salad leaves, green beans, gudhal flowers now days. Also my star is a bit of of JUNKY.....first he was hooked to gudhal flowers and leaves, then to carrots only then to shehtoot leaves. never eats methi or dhaniya and fasts instead when given these things...also has stopped eating gudhal leaves for a long time now.

Take him.to the vet and get it x-rayed..my tort stopped eating cause the gas built up in her stomach was pressing her lungs. She expired a few days later

what help you need in Mumbai, since its not allowed to keep tortoise as pet, no body will say it openly, but many people have it,

if you have bought new star tortoise, they wont eat for few days in a new enviornment, its normal, even they may sleep for few days thats ok, but keep checking, just give them their time and get used to new location, they will start recognizing you and new home
At Kandivali West near Charkop market there is an exotic vet..u can show him there

i've been viewing different posts and threads where one or the other owners living in india are seeking an advise from star owners in INDIA...
and the prime reason for that is most of the advise, help articles, terminology(except for the general ones) don't apply here in india.... it seems to be the irony that the star is native to India and India lacks the most crucial needs, accessories, necessities etc. So i thought instead of posting things in scrambled ways in different threads why not create a new thread that would be centred to help and solve issues of people like us living in india......

so i'm calling on all star owners living in india to give a little bit of intro about you and your tort( its age, weight, size etc) and where you live ( like state or even better .. city) , pictures of your star, enclosure, what diet you feed them etc........ this info would help us asses each other, solve each other's issues and problems and also teach us new better was of keeping our stars.......

So let's see how many Star owners from INDIA!!! :) :) :) :)

I'm Shanu and i live in Jaipur Rajasthan, INDIA :D

i have a 10 year old MALE Indian star tortoise natively belonging to Kutch Gujarat....... i rescued him from a friend of my friend.... and he was previously wild caught and that explains his pyramiding.....but he's still very handsome :)

Here is Max:
