I'm looking for a new filter for my turtle tank because the one I have now just isn't cutting it. I have two baby RES, one 2 in. the other 1.5 in. What are some good filter brands for turtle tanks? And how many gallons should I be looking for? (They're in a smaller tank right now, somewhere between 15-20 gallons of water. Yes I know I need to upgrade :p)

Kind of a hard question to answer, not knowing exactly how your tank is set up. Canister filters almost always are the best choice, and you want to aim for about 10X filtration.

Ehiem Pro cannister .
Ran one for 15 yrs in my 90 gallon tank .
It was still working when i sold it 5 yrs ago.
The Pro series comes with valves .
No more sucking on the tube to prime the pump .

I had the same problem when I had my baby EPTs in a "nursery" tank. They were such dirty babies and impossible to keep the water clean but my canister filter was far to strong for them. They just weren't strong enough to handle the current. I switched to a aqua clear 50. Still had to put some plants in front of the intake to protect against getting them stuck and in front of the out take to break up the current.
