Tilly the Horsfield tortoise is around 2 years old and up until a week ago she/he was putting on about 2 grams a week. In the last couple of days, she is refusing to eat and has lost a gram in weight. She is also sleeping a lot. We are worried about her, is there anything we can do? She has also been trying to climb out of her table (we found her on her back a couple of times) or dig her way out.

Can you provide pictures of her enclosure as well as telling us what she typically eats and what the temp lvls inside the enclosure are?

Im guessing that ur tort is sensing the change in seasons, shorter days, cooler temps and is thinking about brumating.

So, you need to increase the ”daylight” and temperatures to trick your tort into Summertime mode.

Im sure that we see similar concerns every year about this time. So, you need to create longer brighter warmer days.

Good luck

Thanks for getting back to us. Usually she eats, plantain, dandylion leaves, clover leaves, musk mallow, a couple of toroise food pellets, nasturium leaves and flowers.. we mix it up. The temperature under the lamp is between 30-32 oC
