Hello, this is my first post in here and I am a new owner of a baby sulcata that I bought 2 weeks ago.

First noticed he was hiding always in his humid hide just yesterday and "tries" to nibble on the food but he always miss, and tries to eat the air instead.
I always soak every day 15-to-30mins despite being told by the seller to soak only every 2 or 3 days.

The enclosures night time temps are 80° - 86°, and he gets to bask in the sun early in the morning for 15 to 30 mins or until he hides again because temps sometimes reach 104° to 113°. After that I always place the enclosure at our front porch away from the sun and will have 86° to 93° average. I do not own a hygrometer, so I cannot check on the humidity level but I spray the enclosure 2x daily with purified water. I only have an extra UVB light lamp incase it rains and I can't let him bask in the sun.

The substrate; garden soil, large pebbles
This is just a temporary enclosure for the first few weeks for travel purposes.

I am very worried that my baby sulcata has underlying health problems, I hope you guys can see this post. Thank you so much.

PS I just bought a gerber carrot pureed baby food, should I use the whole jar of 80grams for soaking?118272303_641937336430346_8027844110204254199_n.jpg118407736_2727354077542095_3143838603887627609_n.jpg118183105_309197857168616_2123956595977270076_n.jpg118148894_247212493301306_5493851969079685706_n.jpg118032923_436173570652286_7497482382791595018_n.jpg

Chop up his food into tiny pieces, then pile it up against a wall so it doesn't move away from him when he bites at it. Baby tortoises sometimes have trouble with depth perception.

I don't think the swollen cheek is anything to worry about.

Thank you ma'am! I'm glad I am just being paranoid.

Hello ma’am, update on my baby sulcata, I think he is getting worse. He just had his first carrot soak, but his cheek is getting darker and his tongue a bit pale
I read somewhere that it could be mouth impaction?

He doesn't need the carrot soaks. That's only for turtles and tortoises that aren't eating.

If you're worried about the spot on his face, see if you can find a good tortoise vet and have him looked at.
