Last year I bought a one eyed female gulf coast box turtle. I was surprised that she has laid a few fertile eggs for me this summer without mating with my male.
They have been kept separated.

She has a dark colored shell and no skin color at all really.
Her first egg hatched today and I was blown away (and left scratching my head) when this colorful baby appeared!

remember most box turtle females can store sperm in them, so a female by herself is not all that unusual, but it is a very happy surprise so congratz.

I've never seen a box turtle with the white/black coloration like that on the skin. If it were mine I would have to keep it so I could see what it looked like full grown. It's a real beauty!

I agree, with such a unique color pattern I would definitely want to see how this one turns out as it matures.
