Found these on the side of the road in the country. Shouldn't have any pesticides. Just making sure they were dandelions and could anyone tell me what I should do with them before I feed it to my Russians. Can I just rinse them off and they are fine?0CE1FEAA-292D-4F89-9FD3-19137C3C29E3.jpeg7E06BF31-25C7-4679-A4A7-08ECC09338A4.jpeg0A3E4772-21C3-45D5-82A1-CF9A8144A20D.jpeg49B90F61-13EC-47ED-AE80-91DEF760DF5B.jpeg

Those are not dandelions. I don't know what they are. @Yvonne G is a better botanist than me. Maybe she'll recognize it. @RosemaryDW knows her plants pretty well too.

Do you have a picture of the whole plant?

In the future, the dandelion leaves and stems are better food for them than the flowers. Flowers are okay to, but those leaves are the best.

Do not feed those flowers to your tortoise until you get a positive ID, and verify that it is safe.

100% definitely not dandelions.

Take a look at this native Florida flower & see if it matches.... some pix of the entire plant would be helpful.

Now that I look closer, I’m not too sure at all, but check it out.

The above link provides some good info on native Florida flowers.

We do need a picture of the whole plant but I’m voting chicory (dandelion relative), The “saw toothed” petals are the key. It would help to know which Brooksville. Florida? Illinois?

Does look like a "false dandelion". They are edible.

The leaves of all flowering plants are more healthful than the flowers, so pull a plant next time you walk.

True dandelions only make a single flower stalk at a time.
