Alfalfa: Do Not Feed?

Tortoise Table lists alfalfa as a "Do Not Feed" item
Why?

I thought alfalfa was good and I know many of you feed it.
I have also seen the thread about D2/D3 in alfalfa, seems like it should be re-categorized?

I agree. But why is it harder to find orchard hay? Even the prebagged stuff, I know not the greatest, that pet stores sell. They always have a lot more Timothy, and usually even more alfalfa then they will have of orchard.

But why does Tortoise Table list it as Do Not Feed?
It seems the benefits outweigh the high protein content stated as the reason for not feeding.
