I'd keep an close eye on the water temp. I live in NE Ohio and an above ground, black, preformed pond will turn the water fatally hot within a few hours in direct sunlight.

Yea I had that problem initially before I put fish in but once I put dirt around it to help insulate and put a shade cover over it it stays cool now!

I'm planning something like this soon. I'm not sure if I'm going to use a stock tank or build a cinderblock base then line it with a pond liner though.
