I'm so sorry, what an awful thing to happen. I wish your husband speedy recovery. I'm sure you'll find your perfect Sully when the time is right.

Yesterday was a devastating day for my family. I received a call around 4:00 A.M. that my husband was being transported to the hospital and that I should get there right away. My husband is a lathe operator in a plywood plant. He’s told me that he works with sharp blades and has to be very careful. I was so worried that he had lost a finger, hand, arm or something. I was completely shocked to find out what had really happened. He went to turn a 480 volt breaker back on and it exploded on him. I’m not very knowledgeable in the electrical department to explain it better. He called it an arc flash? He has horrible 3rd degree burns all over his entire right arm. His arm looks like a burned piece of firewood. Pitch black and flaking. He’s very lucky that his arm was in front of his face. I can’t imagine the pain that he is in. Today he is going to a burn specialist to have skin graphs done. He was electrocuted in the explosion as well and is being monitored. We’re very fortunate that he’s still alive.
In view of the circumstances, we are not going to be able to travel to get our sulcata this weekend. We’re very sad about it but my husband’s recovery is top priority right now. We’re hoping we can find another to adopt in the future. Thanks again for all the support.
I am so sorry. Prayers for his complete and quick recovery.

Please update when you can. When bad things happen to good people.... you have dozens and dozens of tort lovers sending him prayers and healing vibes. I hope they can manage his pain, I cannot begin to fathom it. How very difficult it must be for you to stand still and wait, and trust that the doctors know best. We are with you.

Thank you all for the well wishes! If all goes well, my husband will be coming home sometime today or tomorrow. He says that the pain is bearable expect when the nurses change the dressing and put new ointment on. His arm will be badly scarred but he is okay. That’s all that matters. My mom has came to help me with the kids and animals so that I can be with my husband. She’s doing a great job taking care of the tortoises. She has decided that she really likes them. She’s not doing as well taking care of Batman (kitty.) I came home to shower last night and saw she gave him a bowl of Mazuri! Poor cat has been eating mazuri for 2 days. The bag is in a closet with the label facing the wall. She thought it was cat food [emoji23] I think we all needed a good laugh with how serious the last few days have been.

Batman got revenge on my mom. I got a call from her a little bit ago. She went to the store to get a “few” things. While she was packing groceries in, Batman knocked a rotisserie chicken off the counter. The plastic container came open and Batman packed the chicken to a safe spot, the bathtub, to eat his chicken. I can’t even be mad at him.

Josh didn’t get to come home yesterday. His liver and kidney function have been effected from the electricity. At this point, I don’t know what the next move is. We thought he was going to be okay but the tests are not coming back good. I’ve showed him all the support that we’ve been getting here on the forum. It means more to us than I can even put into words. Thank you.
If anyone from the west coast wants to take in an 80 lbs male sulcata for a big chunk of change, please let me know. The owners of the tortoise aren’t understanding the gravity of the situation and still expect me to take him. I feel guilty that I had to back out but from this point forward, it’s not my responsibility. If anyone wants him please leave a comment, the owner is a member and can contact you. I’ve got bigger problems. I’m not tying to be disrespectful but please understand that I might be losing my husband which is bigger than needing to rehome a tortoise. Please be considerate as I am trying to do the same. Thank you.

I hope things improve for you and your husband. Hopefully the tortoise in question ends up with a good home, but you are correct your husband's recovery has to be your priority.

Keep us posted - we'll be sending good thoughts your way.
