So it's a scam!!! This all started with the craigslist posting in Delaware and now it's on San diego CL. A girlfriend of mine just sent me the scammers response as she too was interested. I have the name and email information he is using if anyone wants it so Buyers Beware...don't want anyone being scammed.

Impressive list there... Y'all order some first and then let me know how everything went. Then I'll buy a few. ;)

Next email:

"So I'm interested in buying ALL your tortoises, but I have these funds tied up in a long term CD, and if you can send me $50 I can pay the early termination penalty and buy ALL the tortoises you have. Please let me know what you'd like to do..."

Love turning the tables...

lMAO. yeah I love to turn the tables as well on these deals. Total scam. CBW permits are non-transferable, only possed by the person that filed for it, and also has specific species that are placed on it (filed by requestor). You would think these people doing scams would just stay away from endangered and permited required species and might make more of a profit of peopel. Good thing they are dumb.

@JD thats funny, a private island for $50 ha.

It's either a scam or a stolen tortoise. My money goes on scam. Like my dad always said SCRAM-SCAM!

I am positive it is a scam. I mess with these guys all the time. You say you will pick it up and they will say they are to busy and will have to ship. You will never get to pick up.
Here is my latest banter with a scammer: Start at the bottom. And look at the prices!

All of this is almost EXACTLY what he sent to me!! right down to the weird 300& pricing and the "waiting to read from you soon"!!!!

Thanks everyone....like I said I felt like it was a scam but I really wanted it to be true (300 for radi....who wouldnt!)

This is a portion of the e-mail (in mine his name was Mark Anderson)

""these prices are for the adults. however, they negotiable. i am presently in Georgia where i breed these tortoises. delivery
time depends on your location. but it would not exceed 12 hours maximum.
i am waiting to read from you soon.""

CUT AND PASTE!!!!!

Well, although I do believe it is a scam. He replied back with pictures of the three rads and three Aldabras I was asking for. No pics though of any hatchlings to raise up. He did say they are CB imports, even though he says he is in Georgia where he raises them. He said the price is so low, because he is in a bid to sell the most, to bring in more. He had no problem with me picking them up, said that would be good. So, unless you can actually get a time to go there and pick one up, I wouldn't buy from him. The pics of the torts didn't look bad at all.

I wish I could go and actually buy what I had asked for. Not enough room:(. I am sure the ad is in a lot CL. Would be nice if we had any georgia members for one to actually contact them and make a trip just to see. :D.

The location of this guy is bull also. They could be in Nigeria. Wanting to check out this guys place makes me think you want to believe there are really tortoises. That is what they count on. There are no torts in Georgia, or New Jersey, or Delaware. It is fabricated completely. Work with reputable dealers and pay a fair price for a beautiful animal. Jim

No, not Nigeria. Most likely this is the Camaroon scammer. He will often copy/paste his replies and he sometimes forgets to change "puppy" to "tortoise."

They actually don't count on you showing up. They can't get your money if you show up to pay and pickup your tort, if there is no tort there to buy, duh:D. I actually, as already stated, do believe it is a scam. However, if I did live in Georgia, I would be making a trip there, if he actually gave me an address, just to see.

LMAO I finally was able to get him to give me a reason I couldn't pick them up. I had emailed him on trying to make arrangements on either flying out or driving out. Could I please have the address and the name of the nearest airport. Oh, BTW they are CB imports. Well, here was his very nice reply.

i do breed some...actual adults already.well,
i don't know how you intend to do it but i was hoping that since i am in georgia(Europe) it would be more appropriate and cheaper if we could arrange for delivery rather than you coming ... but if you can, then it is ok with me.i have my permit to export and to import and i can get yours...
i don't exactly know what you would like given this twist right now...
please let me know the exact plan so we figure out what to do.
have a blessed day.

This is kinda fun. I will be sending another email. Asking if I could send him money for one tort and pay the rest after I receive them. HaHa. After a reply, I will be letting him know that the majority of tortoise and turtle enthusiasts already know that he and his kind are scammers. Just thought I'd give an update.:D

OH! The "Georgia" that's just above Turkey, and not the "Georgia" that's in the U.S. Nice that he didn't make that distinction at the very first in his ad, huh? This is just one more way to trick the public.
