After 8 years... now he decides to dig!

Very cool! I'll have to try that. He has 2 watering dishes but he doesn't pay them much attention. And he's definitely a man. And he likes for it to be known... :-/

After 8 years... now he decides to dig!

Haha! It might be more shaded over there. But the crazy thing is that he'll dig all day but as soon as it gets dark he goes into his box for the rest of the night. I think he's just trying to be a punk! Or maybe he's hot during the day?

After 8 years... now he decides to dig!

I'm in north Florida. We had a mild winter so I think the lows right now are mid 60s.

After 8 years... now he decides to dig!

My 8 year old Sulcata started digging yesterday. Now he has a full blown burrow under the wall of his enclosure. Should I be worried? Is this normal? I'm open to any suggestions or words of comfort. I thought I lucked out and got a tortoise that didn't dig! Jokes on me!

    Back again!

It's been a few years since I've been on here but thought I'd come back and say hi! I have an 8 year old Sulcata named Cedar. After years & years of being an inside tortie he finally has an outside home! Him and I are both loving it! We're located in North Florida.

So no other opinions or thoughts? Guess it's safe to feed him daily and just burn off the spikes?

    Cactus

A coworker gave me this cactus after they found out I had a tortoise. Is it safe for my sulcata to eat? Also, I repotted it this week and ouch was that painful! Any suggestions on the best way to cut those thorns off before feeding it to him? And last question, assuming it's safe how often can...

Can leopards and sulcatas be kept together?

I have a question that goes along with this subject that I've always wondered about. Someday I would like a Leo as well and although I plan to house them seperate, can they mingle occasionally? Like if I let them out of their own enclosures to graze on a different part of the yard together... Is

    Deworming?

Ok thanks for the reply! I pick up his poop almost daily and I've never noticed anything. I think the guy suggested it when I told him the size of my tort (he's small in my opinion but then again he's been raised mainly indoors).

    Deworming?

I went to repticon a couple weeks ago and while I was there I was talking to one of the guys running an exhibit about my tort and he said I should get him dewormed. What's the story with deworming. I don't know much about it. I have a salcata that was hatched in Oct 09. I bought him from a pet...

    Cedars's New Enclosure!

I'm finally done w cedars enclosure and he's all moved in! Some of you might remember a previous post I wrote where I was stressing about what to do w my tortoise. I was moving to a smaller place with no true outdoor space for him. Well this is what I came up with. It solved both my tortoise...

What are your biggest pet peeves?

Oh this bugs me too! People in my apartment complex have learned my dogs name and they think it's ok to call out to her. So annoying!

    He or She?

Hi guys! This is Cedar. Today while giving Cedar a bath he or she exposed something under his or her tail. This made me curious if cedar was really a he or maybe a she. I've been calling cedar a him for the past 4 years. Hopefully he is old enough for you guys to tell. Make a tort...

    Getting my tortoises microchiped?

Oh that sounds better, the ones I've seen have been attached to the shell. Like they drilled a hole and attached it like you would on a dog collar.
