My redfoot has grown a bit and so have his nails. The only problem is they are super sharp. I mean like needles. I tried filing them but he wont put up with it. Can you clip tortoise nails? If so, can I clip them or should I take him somewhere where they can?
Thanks!
I took out my redfoot today for a romp in the grass because it is sooo nice out. He walked around and ate some clovers and all was good. On the way back he started pooping everywhere and it didnt look like the poop he normally has. I think he might have diarrhea. What should I do?
I have my redfoot in an enclosure that I built myself. Lately I have been noticing that his eyes are teary, which is an indication of low humidity. I have sphagnum moss on the bottom but even with multiple sprayings a day, I cant seem to keep the humidity high enough. I also am not home as much...
So during the night for a couple weeks now I have been hearing clicking noises from my redfoot's house. I couldnt figure out what the heck it was. I checked all of the lights and other things around his house, but found nothing...until today. I saw him trying to bite his own shell and it made...
Here is our redfoots new home. It isnt done yet, there is going to be a second floor if my boyfriend and I can ever finish it. There are linoleum tiles underneath the repti-carpet and the sides have multiple layers of polyurethane. We also didnt realize how much moss we would need, so there will...
I just got a budgie for my 20th birthday and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them or if they know any good websites.
I am a little worried about him because he hasnt made a sound since Friday night (when I got him) and he has been staying in the same place since about saturday...
I came home from class today and my RF was making a noise that sounded like a cough. I have been watching him and he keeps opening his mouth really wide but I cant see anything in his mouth. Does anyone know what is going on?
I recently moved into my first apartment and went with lower price over better quality. I am a college student so I like cheap :). But anyway the windows are old and let alot of air in. It is starting to get cold and even with the windows closed and the fans off, I am having a hard time keeping...
I have a RF that is about a year old and stays inside all the time (we live in an apartment). My friend is moving so she needs to find her cat a good home and I really want to take her, but my boyfriend is convinced that the cat will try to hurt the tortoise. Has anyone had any experience with this?
I have a seven and a half month old redfoot who seems to be getting bigger by the week. I just measured him and the top of his shell is 11cm and the bottom is 7cm.
I am following the plans that are on redfootnerd's site. He has greens 4 days a week, fruit 2 days, and a small amount of protein...
I have my 5 month old redfoot inside in a plastic under the bed container. I have been reading a few posts here and there and it seems that the clear sides of the container arent good. Whats everyone's opinions about this?
I recently got a thermometer/hygrometer and apparently the enclosure I have my baby RF isnt humid enough at all. It is reading between 50 and 60% which I know isnt high enough for him. I have sphagnum moss as my substrate and soak it every morning and evening. I just cant seem to keep the...
Recently I got a baby RF and the lights I have been using in his enclosure are a uvb light and a heat lamp. I have been reading a bunch of posts on here as well as some care sheets and decided to move his light towards the back of the enclosure so it wasnt so strong because he was always hiding...
I am a newbie when it comes to tortoises, but I have had plenty of experience with other exotics. My baby redfoot is only about 3-4 months old and he is very energetic. I take him outside as much as I can. Recently I changed his bedding from rabbit pellets to terrarium "astroturf" stuff. I...
Hi all. I am a new tortoise owner. I have a baby red footed tortoise whose name is Red. It is super energetic and loves hanging out outside. I look forward to talking with others who have tortoises in order to get advice on raising my new baby.
