    Where to sell a tortoise

I have a 10 year old male redcoat tortoise. Sadly, I think it is time for me to find him a new home, but I don't know where to start. Is craigslist a good option? I don't want to sell him to somebody who will just keep him in a cardboard box his whole life; the person needs to know how to care...

    Enclosure Ideas

Just trying to start a conversation here. People always build tortoise tables, like me, but what are some alternatives? For example, ive seen one made out of a huge metal stock tank, or out of those raised garden beds. Does anybody have any ideas for a "pre made" enclosure? I can't seem to find...

    Cut on Red Foot's neck

My Redfoot has had this cut on the bottom side of his neck. I thought it was a result of him trying to climb out of his old enclosure. He has a new one and he doesn't climb, but the cut is still there, and tonight it seemed bigger than usual. I've uploaded a picture. Sorry it's a little blurry...

Continuing to have red foot table humidity issues

I live in Kansas City. The winters here are very cold, but the spring and summers are great (not for me, for a red foot). Very hot and very humid. I plan on making an outdoor enclosure as soon as the weather allows. I have been considering rebuilding. I think I could do a much better job the...

Continuing to have red foot table humidity issues

Hi! A while back I built a 6x3.5 table for my 10 year old red foot (Nessie). It is a huge upgrade from the rabbit cage that my dumb self kept him in for way too long. I got a humidifier which is piped directly into the plexiglass covered area. When it is on, the humidity goes way up to around...

    My Humid Hide

So after struggling with trying to maintain the humidity in my table for my Red Foot, I decided to make a humid hide. I ran to Target and got a plastic "utility bin" and a lid. It is flipped upside down with a hole cut in it for him to get in and out of. Nessie loves going underneath plants...

    Worried about my Redfoot's Carapace

Wow. In the summer I hope to do some research on an outdoor habitat, but there's no way it could happen right now with the KC winters!

    Worried about my Redfoot's Carapace

This is Nessie, my 10 year old redfoot. I am worried about his shell. I know there is some pyramiding, but it has these grooves in it as well, and some of them are white-ish. Is there anything I can do? What is the problem here? Also, how bad would you consider the pyramiding on a scale of 1-10...

Maintaining humidity in a Tortoise Table

Hi. I'm Sam, and this is my first post here! I own a 10 year old Redfoot and have a question about humidity in my tortoise table that I recently built. The table is about 6.5' X 3'. My first attempt at keeping heat and humidity in was to create a wooden "tent" over the top with one side on a...
