The last couple of days I've found patches of tiny floating insects in Cece's water bowl. Each time I've removed the water and thoroughly washed the bowl etc but at the moment it seems like they're going to keep returning. My main concern is whether they pose any risk to me tortoise. Can anyone...
They're not currently together and have actually never met because we planned on getting a second but the first one went missing in the meantime and it still hiding in the garden somewhere.

I have concerns about my current set up for my little tort. Currently I'm using a 60W normal bulb for heat and a 26W 5% coiled UVB bulb which I now understand to cause eye damage and I'd hate for that to happen! Both bulbs are mounted on the side of the tortoise table with lamp clamps.

It's sunken into her substrate and the sides are only about 1cm deep. I'm just not sure how she's flipping herself as she always ends up with her head facing the edge. I would assume that if she was flipping whilst getting out then she'd end up with her head facing the corner unless she manages...
I'm in a similar situation to you. I have a new hatchling (my second) and she manages to flip herself over in her water bowl and it really worries me. My other tortoise is a year older and has never had this problem.
The water bowl is sunken and I can't see how to prevent her from flipping...
Still nothing. I know this is a long shot but before he escaped he was quite sleepy during the day when he was inside. Could he have hidden away and tried to hibernate, hence him not coming out in the sun?
Little plop is a 10 months old Hermann tortoise and a little adventurer who loves to climb. He's so cute and friendly! This has lead to his disappearance in the garden that some of you may have already seen. Hopefully he'll re-emerge from the garden soon so we can be reunited!
