I'm hoping for some help sexing this sub-adult pancake. The shorter tail seems to indicate female, but I find it tough to know for certain until they're full grown. Appreciate any insight people may have.
I have a couple larger adult leopard tortoises (around 13/14 inches) and am looking at a male, who is over 10 years old, but only 9 inches (stunted growth likely related to poor care earlier in his life). What are the chances this male would make a good breeder for the females given the size...
I'm looking at buying a couple of older leopards. I was told they were 1.1, but after looking into this further and consulting a breeder, it looks more like 2 females. Curious if anyone sees it differently.

I have built a nice pen for my redfoots in the yard, but right now it is covered only in dirt. The dirt here is kind of sandy, and is scattered with a few plants (dandelion and other weeds). Should I be getting some mulch to put over top of it or are there any other suggestions?

I am likely getting a large reptile vision enclosure to keep pancake tortoises indoors. I am wondering if anyone else has used these for tortoises? If so, what have you used to provide additional heat, on top of the heat lamp insert on top of the cage?
