Hi,
Came across an ad today for a calcium reptile substrate called Reptilite. It claims to be safe for tortoises because it is '100% edible and easily digestible' and spherical, to avoid scratching your pet (inside or out)
Contains argonite, stronium and magnesium - no silica or phosphorus...
Thank you! Homer seems to be a lot stronger. He's still wobbly and his right side frequently collapses under him, but he's eating and digging and chewing, and that's all I ask!
Very likely a scent gland infection or tumour. Males are very prone to them. One of my older males actually had an infected tumour, and his brother caught the infection. Jet and Jasper both recovered from the infection, but Jet succumbed to the tumour after a few days. Very sad.
It was most...
Thank you everyone. Sorry I couldn't have replied sooner, but TFO wasn't working on my iPod and then one of my gerbils fell ill. It's reassuring to hear that Herb looks good.
Homer had a head-tilt a while ago, which turned out to be an inner ear infection, and he was very weak then. He's still moving about quite energetically this time, but one side of his body has gone lax and he can't walk well. He sort of slides. I'm almost positive it was a stroke this time, and...
Urgent help needed with nearly 2 year old male gerbil. Homer has developed another head tilt, this time more severe. Seems very perky and is eating but struggles to move, very lopsided and unbalanced. I think he's had a stroke - please help me, what do I do? My gerbils mean the world to me...

3 month old Hermann's, bathed daily, with...
Hi, sorry, I don't mean to crash this thread but this is exactly the question I wanted to ask about my Hermann's, so I'm hoping it's ok if I post a couple of pictures here?
By the way, your Sulcata is beautiful. Lovely shell. (I can't tell if it's pyramided or not; it doesn't look to be to...
My Paddy had his first tick a while ago. His groomer removed and murdered it for us - eugh! Only a small tick, though. We use Advocate; Matt (the groomer) told us that these products won't immediately kill ticks, which is why we notice live ticks on our pets. Ticks are horrid things. Your poor...
Thank you, Pearly! Herbie seems (touch wood) to be doing a lot better now, growing well (now I have the issue of: 'oh, God, am I overfeeding him?!') and very active.
X From Herbie and me for all your help
