    Re: Substrate

Hi everyone, update. Sorry it has taken me a while to update you all. I have been doing the cypress mulch. Everything has been going well, however, I just recently purchased 3 bags of Fluker’s cypress mulch. When I poured the first bag on the floor, I noticed and there were thick pieces and some...

    Re: Substrate

It’s a reptitherm habitat heater. Would I be better if I take out the heating pad if put in substrate. From what I remember, on the box, it said not to lay anything over it. Hence, no substrate. Should I just lay substrate and remove the heating pad? Or stay with what I have? I would like them...

    Re: Substrate

I have a automatic shut off system when it reaches a certain temp. Also have a ceramic heater on the top with the same system. They pretty much get heat from top and bottom as the floor can get fairly cold. What is everyone’s take on Timothy hay from bedding? I used it before but it tends to dry...

    Re: Substrate

I know this has been discussed numerous times on this forum, but I just want to go through options again with what I already have for my torts. They are not laying on any substrate at the moment. They have a heating pad and that’s about it. What would you guys recommend for substrate for this...

    Spur fell off rear foot

Hope that gives you piece of mind [emoji4]. As for Tiny, she lost the largest one on her back left leg. Figured if that one is growing back, your tort should have no problem.

    Spur fell off rear foot

Same thing happened to my Tiny almost a year ago. I believe it happened when she was digging. It was dangling for several days. Was not bleeding from what I could see. I flushed it with saline and I put antibiotic ointment on it just to be safe. It fell off eventually. It looks like it has...

    Mazuri

2 of my 3 torts eat it. It is the LS mazuri stuff. My russian and smaller sulcata love it. But my bigger sully will walk over it if i try to have her eat it. She wont even smell it.

Introduction of me, my girlfriend, and our sulcata!

Have a friend that has sullies that lives on the Big Island. Ideal weather conditions. Humidity is perfect! Unlike California, I am dealing with 17% humidity in my room as we speak [emoji19]

    Temp and humidity

I feel like I am a bit confused even though more experienced sulcata owners have many different opinions on the matter. I always have made sure that my sulcatas stay above 72 degrees F. I mean right? Isn't that usually the guideline for temps? I thought it was, unless I am mistaken. And to my...

    Constipated Sulcata

Hi Tom! Sorry for the late reply. Was busy with moving and finals. She has pooped since then. I just finished her soak 10 mins ago and she pooped 3 times. She does not spend that much time on the floor inside the house. Only when I want to watch her move around and it is too cold outside. It...

    California fires-

Question, I decided to study out in the backyard with the torts today and I noticed that I can smell the smoke. Its not a crazy amount, just noticable. How harmful is this for my tortoises? Should I bring them inside until this all goes away?
