Just wondering, any of you guys feed your leopard any thanksgiving treats for the little guys. Any veggies, fruits, or leafy greens thats a yearly thing for them around this time?
I fully understand where your coming from, I hate when I look on a forum and see the title "experiment blah blah blah"...I'm sitting here like wait, this is your pet we're talking about, would you run 'experiments' on your dog or cat? But even since I joined the forum last year it seems huge...
So last year I set up a tank for and purchased a musk turtle. Over the past 10 or so months this turtle has become so tame that whenever someone comes into the room she is right on the glass staring you down for food. She almost had to be hand fed because if you just throw food in she just sits...
I've been using one for my year old for the past 3 weeks, he seems to be acting better now that it keeps his humidity higher. I had trouble raising his humidity over 20% even with spraying and having a humid hide but this seems to do the trick pretty well so far, I'll update if anything occurs...
Chief was fed this for about 2 months before I got him, and he seems to be liking it.
I don't feed it everyday though, just mixed with his greens every 2 or 3 days.
Yeah, if I would have to say I'd say somewhere close to a leathery feel, its noticeable if your handling him for a bit but thats about it. I just seemed out of the ordinary to me, his appetite is still humongous and his poo is still how it should be.
I figure I'm going to lower his humidity...
I've got a Solar Glo 125 watt on the one side of his habitat. It's around 92-95 under the light and 80 on the other side, the reason I asked was this didn't happen for the first days I had him when he was kept relatively dry...it seemed to only occur once I raised the humidity and temperature...
Our 9 month old Chief has over the past 2 days gotten softer shell. Keep in mind Ive only had him for a week and 2 days and over the last 3 days vie raised his humidity as it seems it is best. I think it's because of the higher humidity but I just wanna make sure its okay for him. The humidity...
I've been following Chevy too before I even joined, sorry about that...but I'm definitely glad your staying.
Just got my Leopard from Turtles and torts inc and he's in great condition, seems they do something right rearing the young guys, hope whichever one you pick you enjoy and he enjoys his...
Just wanted to know, what should my leopard tortoise's humidity be? He's around 8 months old and I've heard varied opinions for a tortoise this age.
Thanks :D
Thanks a lot guys, I went to my local organic food store and got a spring mix and some dandilion as well. Also buying a grazing mix of seeds for him, he seems to be getting used to me pretty quickly too.
First I'll introduce myself, my name's Chris. I'm a Marine and Environmental Policy major at Monmouth University, I have way too many fish, an aquatic turtle, and received my Leopard tortoise on Wednesday. He's doing great so far, taking his daily baths and roaming around his environment. I'm...
