Yes after mentioned above I started thinking, our big one did have issues every once in awhile withbthe smaller one. I think it will be best to keep the oldest and First one. Just sad you know! Thank you all for the reply’s!
Oh really? I did not know that, the big one we have came from someone who had a few and then we had the one we lost with our big one since he was probably 6... so the last 6 years.
Our big one is up and walking around today. It’s warm here and supposed to be warm for a few days. Is there an official date they are usually up and out of hibernation? I never really paid attention.
Hello, my son just lost his DT that was born the same year as him and we have had it since he was a year.... almost 12. We have an older one that’s maybe early 30s and would love to find a new companion for her. I am in CA but ours were originally from Nevada I think.
OMG I just found my desert tortoise dead!!!! I don’t even know what to say!
I have/had 2 tortoises. One is female and prob late 20s or early 30s. Then I had an almost 12 year old that I have had since it was about 1. He is very active and actually woke up earlier then our big one. I had them...
Here is the 11 year old... my larger female is completely flat, no curve at all. This one has a slight curve like if you turned your hand over straight, you would still have a curve in your palm.
Hello... our little one is starting to show signs of male I think but I am not sure. Our little one is 11 years old and I see a slight curve on the belly and a sharper V at the tale but still not 100% sure. We thought it was another female, like the other picture... we think she is in her late...
Hi Tortoise Family... I think my little tortoise (11 years) is finally getting big enough to tell the sex. I used to think for sure it was another female but looking at it now I am thinking its showing signs of a male.... what is your guess? The first pic is our little 11 year old that we have...
Yes my hubby shot one off our wall last week, that is why that was our first instinct. But just wonder if they would have taken it, not just left it there. I didn't see any blood or anything either. idk
Thank you for this info. With us cutting down on sprinklers I should have been extra diligent. As I mentioned, when i put food out, I will put a dish of water but they never take it so i sprinkle in on their faces and on there bodies but still no interest. I am going to get some big terra-cotta...
Aww I'm so sorry for your losses too! Yes they all roam freely in my yard, well now only 2. I am going to go get a water dish for them. When I used to keep the little ones caged, they had a water dish. I don't know why I never kept it going in the yard. Thanks
no they don't have a water source and it was super hot last week. i set out water for them with food but they hardly even want it. ugh i am so sad, especially if it was something i could have helped with.
