    Tortoise Town

I'm sorry I didn't post the information sooner, but honestly I wanted to give Tortoise Town a chance to do the right thing and stop using my photos for advertising. Three months is plenty of time though, and apparently they are not taking this seriously. I hope your Yellow Foot baby will be just...

    Tortoise Town

I think a comment is in order here. Tortoise Town is using copyrighted Redfoot photos from my website for advertising and sales on their website. It would be very safe to say that you may not get what you think you are buying from them. They are marketing my tortoise on www.tortoisetown.com like...

4 mo. Hatchling with prolapse/missing piece of carapce

Nothing new on the prolapse. I may see if the vet helping me here at home will check with the vet that took over the care. I certainly would like to follow it and know the outcome.

4 mo. Hatchling with prolapse/missing piece of carapce

I hope so, too. I was sure I didn't have the resources or knowledge needed for the kind of care it would probably need. The vet had a Redfoot of her own at home, so I have a feeling she may be the one to keep it, at least for now. If I get any other info about it, I'll certainly post an update.

4 mo. Hatchling with prolapse/missing piece of carapce

Update on the hatchling with the prolapse: The vet helping me with the hatchling in my home town was in favor of giving the tortoise a little more time, especially since the vet that fixed the first prolapse was willing to take over its necessary vetting and care. I drove it to Clearwater last...

4 mo. Hatchling with prolapse/missing piece of carapce

Ahh, I see, @Yvonne G Probably much more going on inside than possibly outside. I spoke to someone at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital today and they asked me to email photos and vet records. I got a call back from them. They didn't give a recommendation since they hadn't...

4 mo. Hatchling with prolapse/missing piece of carapce

Does anyone have any experience with repairing a small piece of carapace? I have a 4 month old hatchling that was hatched missing a small piece of carapace to the left of its tail. I believe the lack of structure is causing her prolapse problems. Two weeks ago she had a bladder prolapse. The...

    Omg. It's so tiny.

Of course. :) No, those first two were bad and had to be thrown out. That third photo of the darker looking egg did hatch, though.

    Omg. It's so tiny.

I have probes in my lidded containers in the incubator. I kept the temperature at 85 degrees. I also have an analog thermometer in the incubator itself, as a safeguard. It reads about 83-84 degrees. I've kept the humidity about 85 percent. I actually need to add a little water to the corner of...

    Omg. It's so tiny.

That is so exciting! I love the dark coloring of your first! Don't throw the dark looking eggs away yet. Out of the 8 eggs I incubated this season two of them were bad and I knew it because they both started to grow mold on them, they both smelled and looked like this when candled: The ones...

    Omg. It's so tiny.

I heard the same average. One of my Redfoot babies just hatched Friday on day 110. I wasn't expecting it for at least another 10 + days.

    New Hatchling Plastron Deformity?

Hi, Has anyone had this experience with a hatchling? I have a new hatchling with what I think may be a deformity on the plastron. Eyes are open and it looks and acts normal but there's a deep crease in the plastron. The carapace looks perfect but is more dome-shaped than the other ones. Did it...
