I agree with Yvonne. The first 2-3 years are the toughest. Down here it's cold then not as cold. Some days they are out and then buried again.

Ok. I figure if I get enough plants that provide cover it will help them feel safe.

That's what I'm hoping. It's only been a week so I'm adding some more plants and logs this weekend hoping this helps. Should I put the plants next to the walls to help stop them?

It's too dark to get a pic right now. It's the landscape bricks that make a retaining wall for a garden. They are not square and have gaps on the inside. They are getting in between the gaps and climbing. I thought about gluing ceramic tile along the walls to make it flat and hoping they...

Anyone have any ideas to help stop them from climbing up the walls? I do have a lip around it but they keep climbing so far and then falling down.

Thanks y'all. My turtle likes to dig deep so I'm going to bury the wire just to feel a little better. I will put bricks along the inside edge flush with the ground to help.

I've always used screen buried to keep them from digging out. I stapled it to the wooden walls. Now I'm using bricks for the walls and want to know how to secure the edges. What has everyone else done in this situation?

My female GC has been buried for the past three days and has not eaten. Last year she did hibernate until late October. Anybody else seeing this in south Louisiana?

Thanks terryo. I just want to do it right by getting all my facts straight. I plan on building a bigger enclosure this fall/winter so I will have room for two. If you know anyone wanting to re home a three toed female or another gulf coast female please let me know.

Thinking about adding a female three toed with my female GC. Are they cared for the same? Just doing my research before I start looking.
