    New to Russian Torts

One side dug and tile buried...working in the rain. Thankful for mother nature to soften the soil up a bit for me.

    New to Russian Torts

And the groundbreaking was today. Instead of burying bricks vertically, am going with tile. It does the same thing, is thinner to bury, and better on the pocket book. Also got some bricks to create a walkway type of deal too. Went with 1x12 on wood for the sides. My winter project has begun. We...

Thank you much. I will add that to my list! I am in Central Valley California...near Fresno, so I am warmer than you are...that's for sure. The plants in the cinder blocks are ice plants. Yes, that is a banana tree, partial reason why the height on the cover...also so I can walk in there with no...

    Pyramiding partially diet related?

I got them from a pet store that had them in dry conditions on bark and no soaks. I was told they were 2 months old when I got them. I will bump up humidity more. Do you suggest 80%, 90%? I check the humidity before I go to work and when I get home...it seems to stay constant at the 70-75 mark...

    Pyramiding partially diet related?

I use a laser temp gun to check temps around the enclosure. I do go off the disk thing for humidity. It is closed aquarium with top covered 90% of it. Am glad to hear on grasses as that has stressed me out with their diet.

    Pyramiding partially diet related?

Hello all. My temps are at 80 inside (even have a ceramic emitter for night now) and humidity levels are 70-75%. Basking is at 95-100 They are almost a year and I still do daily soaks as well as keep humid hides. I use topsoil and a peat moss layer in the middle for substrate...BUT they have...

    New to Russian Torts

Thank you. I do need to do some more research on Russian feed. I had just finished it a few weeks ago for the Leopards without anticipation of another one. I was going to have my garden at the end but plans changed. Attached are pics of the current Leopard set up. I plan to plant...

    New to Russian Torts

My husband finished the cover expansion today. Now the fun part begins...construction of the inside of it. Krusty is a character and decided today it was one foot at a time in soaks. Of course he got his morning full soak, but apparently he wanted more on his feet. I would walk by him and he...

    Vitashell?

Has anyone used this Vitashell? Just rescued this 3 year old guy and he is perking up and doing well now after soaks and sun. Today is day 3 and I have noticed some shell damage? The keratin seems flaky in certain areas. Should I do anything or just let it be? Thank you.

    New to Russian Torts

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I have identified him as a boy! Also, his name is Krusty as he looked that way when we got him. A couple of soaks and couple of days in the sun, he has perked up and doing well. He even ate directly from my hand and has a great personality. We have...

    New to Russian Torts

I have Leopards and today we rescued an estimated 3 year old Russian. I felt so bad for him and he was in a bit of rough shape, but in good spirits. The shell is hard but doesn't look as pretty as what I have seen from photos of Russians, so I know he needs some extra TLC. He is quite dry and I...

Outdoor enclosure coming along...REVISED - COMPLETED!!

I was going to go with creeping Charlie's but they do not do well for me with the frost in Central Valley, CA, so I decided to try Ice plant in the cinder blocks and hope it lasts the weather elements.
