    Looking for a male Egyptian.

Hello fellow members; I have 4 females and 1 male Egyptians. I want to add another male they won’t breed for some reason. Hoping the extra male will add male competition to the colony and get breeding going. Hopefully someone has an extra male they can part with? Thank you for reading, Gerry

The radical digging stopped and at work during the day so do not know the pattern in which the ditches were dug. Now I am wondering if there is a egg hidden somewhere in the substrate of my table. [hr] Bill what times of the year do your do the nesting most? I think mine might have been just a...

    Digging spree!

There has been a changing of the seasons here in Portland. There are shelves in my tort table with little planters. Has them outside all summer got cool and brought them back in and put them on their appropriate shelve. Could added plant life cause the digging?

new to egyptian tortoises, is it healthy and subspecies/location please?

    Wanting Egyptians!

Even if they have babies they wait till night temps hit the 50's. It is all for the better to wait till at least May. Very sensitive to cold and not worth the risk. I know I hate the wait myself but when your little cherubs are eating right out the shipping box it makes it worth it.

Sedum is the ultimate snack food for Egyptians mine love it and get added water from them. Dandelion is fun to grow as a plant and is a super food for torts. In your hot hot Arizona weather try Sea Lavender, Milkvetch, Desert Plantain, Thyme and Mediteranian Grass. For Sedum get chubby leaf...

Does anyone have captive raised Egyptians that aren't pyramiding?

Hello Steve; Not just low humidity but also a good amount of UVB. They have to properly process what they consume. They also need to have a little activity in their routine. They are from arid environments and knowing that they will ignore a water dish if you put one in there all point to...

Does anyone have captive raised Egyptians that aren't pyramiding?

Egyptians are tough to minimize pyramiding unless your in a climate warm enough to utilize real sun and the outdoors some. If keeping indoors on a tort table to minimize pyramiding keep humidity down to around 30% except for morning feeding when wet greens will bring it up for a little bit but...

My T5 system isnt to close to the table and a small fan off to the side for when it does get to hot but but hardly ever use it. For the most part T5 fluorescent lights are great to use with Egyptians. They get warm but not extremely hot like traditional bulbs. Because as much as they dont...

    Egyptian tortoise in humid Florida

I deal with the Pacific Northwest rain for 9 months humidity. To keep my level to about 30-40% I got a mixture of oyster shells and coco peat with sections of crushed walnut sand and coco peat for digging about. Keep your substrate deep and turn it about with your hand on occasion. These...
