I will make an appointment for him tomorrow. He was actually walking around and eating his cuttle bone tonight... He also has a dry looking pink powdery looking stuff right around the inside edge of his beak on the top. I am going to get him some more vitamins, I cant really figure out why this...
I think my little guy has mouth rot. He has had a brown crust on the side of his face/ mouth for a little while, but he is sheding, so i din't pay much attention to it. But now he has not eaten for a week and his mouth is looking really white. I am looking for a medicine I can treat at home...
Yes mine is the birth defect turtle. He is doing great! I have trained him to find his food dish and where his water bowl is. I have tried to feed him on a flat rock, but because he can't see, he just opens his mouth and starts chopping, so he has to have it in a bowl so that the sides hold...
my turtle is blind and does not chew on his cuttle bone, should I file his beak a little? it seems like its getting a bit longer...but dont know how long it should be in the first place.
his tail is short and sorta bulbous at the end, but he has a uva/uvb light now and yes I am using the ointment and do rub it a little, he really doesn't like it and pulls his head in and smears it all over, but I am putting it on 3 times a day and Tuesday will be the 7th full day of 3...
So his eyes are probably stuck shut huh? That’s ok he really gets around well, he can see light, so knows where his hiding area is and he knows where his food is, he is in the living room and doesn't see us moving around all the time so that is good too. He will have a good life even if...
I put some more water in the enclosure... he never really goes in there though. The attached pictures are of eyes and shell. He also has one toe nail that grows straight up instead of out. He only seems to have one nostril that is all the way open as well, the other is like grown over or...
I do leave a little water in his enclosure, and spray him with a water bottle a few times a day, like when I walk by I give him a quick spray. I put him in water every day to soak, but because of his blindness, the soak is in really shallow water like half an inch, so not to sure its making a...
Well so far not much is happening. I think I may see some cracks for where the lids are supposed to open (kind of diagonal slits, more toward the top? is that where there eyes usually open and close?) And there is some movement of the lid skin when he "blinks" other than that no much going on...
I added a small clay pot for a hide out, we'll see how it goes but he doesn't seem to want to be in it when I put him in it..he just wants to hang in his food dish :)
Thanks for the feedback all. I tried a piece of red fir bark but he climbed up it and that made me nervous, and I put him under it a few times and he quickly ran out. I am experimenting with places for him to dig. I have a little dish of grass clippings that he doesn't seem to notice, he...
I remember the pm.. and I sent you my name... weird cause it is not in the sent items in my mail box, not sure why it didn't work.. I really appreciate you sending it, I really hope it helps. I will keep you posted, and thanks agian!
This is what I came up with for the new enclosure. It took me forever and a day but he seems happy. I used organic potting soil and grass out of my yard, we never fertilize or anything.
I wanted to show you all the new setup I have for my little blind guy. I finally got it done today, it took me forever to dig that grass up and get it planted, but he seems happy! I may have to take out the little rock filled pool though, I’m a tad nervous he will fall in and drown...
I will make it easy, he is the size of my palm for right now he is in a 10 gallon tank, with gravel and sand. Pictures can be found on the "help!! he never opened his eyes after hatching 2 years ago" thread he has a food dish and a water dish and thats it! Im trying to spruce it up for him.
