    Input on pyramiding

I wouldn't call that Pyramiding. Bear in mind these tortoises tend to pyramid a bit in a natural form. Unlike species like testudo graeca or testudo hermanni, where pyramidding is a bit difficult and an indicator of bad housing, sulcatas can grow their shells with a bit of pyramiding without a...

    Outside enclousure

53 F is way bellow their standard temperatures. At least try to keep the tortoise above 65F (at least). the bigger they get, the better they can withstand those temperatures, but at that age i'd suggest you make more heat available to the tortoise.

Baby sulcata wont eat after trauma

don't press the animal. Just let the tort get its way. Trust me, if she's hungry she'll eat. They don't have human feelings as such we would percieve..

    SULCATA TORTOISE need HELP

And nobody said anything about the spinach thing??? It's ok to give them spinach once or twice a month, but they really shouldn't be eating it in huge quantities. It's nutritionally bad for their livers and stomaches !!! if you feed her off with too much spinach they will develop serious...

That's Baby Precious. That is Grass, a little bit of lettuce i gave her (with bits of dried dandelion and grasses and weeds sprinkled all over the lettuce). Oh she eats everything :D. I upped the humidity values in my terrarium and the torts are doing well. (still have to find a suitable non...

    adult sulcata

What I meant in the previous post is that, yes, its better if you separate them, but dont let this be your first issue to solve. It's way more important to keep them at the correct temperatures, give them the proper food, sun, humidity etc.... Separating them should be a concern, but the least...

    adult sulcata

Well now we are being a bit exagerate. It COULD happen, but in a very LOW percentage. ¿When you talk about this african tortoise what species is it? It is way better if they never really have contact at all yes, but .... @Tom will disagree and he's probably right, but I don't really find this a...

Switching a new tortoise to orchard grass

lol I like the tortoise lasagna. Bandofett the pyramidding wont get better, but it won't get any worse, and over time it won't be such a big deal for the tortoise :-) I'd say you swap the substrate and put something that is waaay more humid like normal earth or soil you use on pots and plants...

Comment by 'Juan V' in media 'First taste of fruit-9 months old'

sulcatas have not evolved to eat fruit. Dont give them fruit. A little bit is not harmless, but it will mess up with the tortoise's system and it really is not needed. (not that it's good as a suplement or better or that it enrichens them, it's directly that they really don't need fruit in their...

    Sulcata scratching?

if you can keep them under a controlled humidity enclosure then I suggest you do. Mantain the temperature around 30ºC - 31ºC on the hot spot and 26 or so on the coldest part of the terrarium. Then spray water everywhere so humidity rises High Humidity -> Higher Temperature and Higher Thermal...

    Sulcata scratching?

that's very little substrate, and be careful with the way you have the house, since the tort could fall on her back. All torts know how to flip themselves , but you never know. if he/she falls flipped backwards with little substrate

Switching a new tortoise to orchard grass

according to what I've read, the tortoise is too young to eat hay orchard. It will only start to eat that once they grow fully adults. i'd suggest you switch to grass.
