Hi everybody,
It's been a long time since I posted something, I am much more a reader then a poster.
However, I thought it would be nice to give an update, since I learned a lot here, and enjoy reading all those stories and seeing the pictures of your beloved friends.
Backstory:

Hello,
I would like to use some dried oak leaf for decoration in my tortoise vivarium.
I did some research and what I found were various opinions.
According to thetortoisetable.org.uk oak leaves have toxic properties. And preferably should not be given.
My tortoise was nibbling on a dead...
Hi everybody,
I would like some thoughts about this.
As some of you have read my Russian tortoise has been getting more and more inactive over the months. Eventually she didn't eat anymore and dug herself in completely.
She has been sleeping for exactly 5 weeks now, and I am wondering to...
Hello,
I am much more of a reader than a poster, but I wanted to share something.
From the moment I got my Russian tortoise, I knew I wanted to get her a big enclosure.
For a few months now I have been scanning the adds for suitable and, affordable options.
I have an appointment tonight to go...
YESssssss girl gimme some legggs
She was plowing her enclosure and decided it was time for late night dinner. She got a new food dish but the rim is a bit high. I haven't dug it in properly and it gave room for a funny pose, made me smile :)
Hi everybody,
My Russian tortoise has been displaying some behavior and I am curious/a bit worried.
I initially posted this on the thread of "why does my Russian stay buried" but nobody responded and she is displaying the same behavior again, so I wanted to bring it up again, here because I...
It was like a weight lifted from my heart. I haven't seen Yoshi in 3 days straight and I was so worried.
I called her today a few times seeing her, having sleepy eyes in her hide.
And then suddenly she was awake and waiting for food.
I ran to my fridge and got all the weeds out asap and I...
Hello,
Thanks everyone for the good information I got here.
I have almost completely changed the diet of Yoshi, my Russian to outdoor greens.
I have decided to make the most of the good summer and gather as much plants as I can for her.
What do you think?
My current mix now consists of...

Hi:)
I live in Holland and was curious to see how the whole concept of Craigslist works in the States, and I decided to look for some Russians who need new homes.
I found this tortoise for $150 dollars, she lives on some sort of pallets has a log hide and a waterdish, comes with tank.

Hey everyone,
I finally found a dealer which could provide me with zoomed natural grassland tortoise food for my Russian.
Sadly they have send me zoomed natural FOREST tortoise food.
They could not get me the variant I needed because it was out of stock and not sure if they will get it again...
Hi everybody,
I just finished weighing my Russian Yoshi and she has lost weight since I got her.
I weighed her on 23th of May and she was 311 grams when I got her.
And on the 30th of June she was 282 grams.
That means she lost almost 30 grams, is that normal for a recently moved tortoise...
Hi everybody,
I just saw the most peculiar behavior from my RT Yoshi.
Apparently the cuttle bone was the punching bag.
I observed her first eating from it and scratching it.
Then I saw her charging it... really setting herself off from the front legs and bashing into it.
She then went back to...
Friends,
I have just a couple of questions, I would appreciate thoughts and tips.
1. Yoshi is now 12 cmters, (4.72 inches) is she beyond the size and age of the dreaded pyramiding?
I read here that she was, but I'd like to have it confirmed.
2. Also, I feed her daily a mix of salads...
Hi everybody,
I am really curious to know which subspecies of T. Horsfieldii I have.
My best guess, after reading the thread of EgyptianDan here is that she is T. H. Horsfieldii.
I'd love to hear your opinions and thoughts.
Take care,
Joey

Hi everybody,
I am a bit confused.
I read somewhere that Agrionemys is now widely accepted the genus for Russian tortoises.
I only now them by Testudo.
I read on wikipedia that there are morphological differences which causes them to have their own seperate genus.
Also, I have read that...
Hi everbody,
Ever since I was a little boy I have wanted a tortoise.
I never dared, nor had the correct means to do so.
Last week I made a choice and I chose to adopt Yoshi, estimated age between 3/4 years.
Russian Tortoise, Agrionemys (Testudo??) Horsfieldii.
I really enjoy looking at how...

I wanted to check something with you guys.
I have read my butt off, and checked so many caresheets I can't even remember ;)

I think so, because of the V shaped tale which...
