I know it’s hard to tell radiata ‘s gender until 8 to 10 years old .
But I just found out my 2 yearlings have different shapes of anal scutes (as I marked red )
Does it necessarily indicate different gender at this early stage?
I noticed some Burmese star has this 1 yellow line on the front scute while some are missing this line .
Is this pattern random occurrence or has something to do with certain genes ?
Not sure if this is a sign to distinguish between different bloodlines
I’m in coastal Southern California , can I keep red cheek mud turtle in my outdoor pond ?
I’ve kept South American wood turtles outdoor year round without any problems. I think they are from same region ?

After years of browsing instagram , I noticed CB Burmese stars from Asia looks different from the one in US . Seems the asian ones all have larger center scutes with solid color .
See img below I screenshot from instagram
Those two below are mine
Wtf is this worm? Looks like a piece of thin spaghetti. Found in the poop of a radiata tortoise I bought couple months ago . The shape and texture of the poop looks normal and this tortoise eats like a pig .
Just saw this on Facebook
That’s definitely a Rafetus swinhoei
I can’t find much background story about it , maybe someone here speaks Vietnamese can help digging in ?
