So tonight Little Dude was clicking when eating. Like - loud clicking. And sometimes his head would pull in his shell in sync with the clicking. It reminds me of if my jaw pops while chewing.... ???? What is that? I try not to worry, but it seems like it might be slightly painful? Or am I...
(I shared this in pretend chat but it was too cute not to share elsewhere!) - So, here's the routine - I soak Little Dude, then get him out and place him in a washcloth quick so he's not dripping, then hand him to my fiancé while I get his food. So tonight, my fiancé puts him down as usual next...
Okay, I'm not sure if I've just never noticed this or if it's gotten worse - but Little Dudes plastron has a (what I consider) large dip in it!! He's less than 6 months old. Is this something to be worried about?! Am I doing something wrong? His shell is growing smoothly...... I'm the only one...
First time I've really caught Little Dude sleepin'.... He's parallel to/facing the glass, but his head is completely sideways. Sorry the pic couldn't be better - darn redfoots and their need for humidity. ;)
So, little dude has a 100w CHE and a basking light for his 40g enclosure. However, I am unable to keep the temp above 80 at night with just the CHE when the basking light goes off - but he never uses the light anyway because, well, he's a redfoot. :) My question is, can I get rid of the basking...
Not sure if you can see what I mean, but there's a space between a few scutes and black ring between the scutes on the left side - is this growth? Not pyramiding? I hope it's not pyramiding - I keep the humidity above 80%.... :/ or am I being paranoid?.... lol
This is how I found my little'un today. lol. How is that even comfortable? The pic doesn't show completely, but he's almost completely horizontal against the glass. lol.
I need to change my RF's substrate. I can't do full Eco Earth anymore - I'm not sure why, but even after I completely changed it, when I went to mix it around a bit and pour some water in there today, it again brought up the rotten egg smell.
I think I will still use a few inches of it for...
I've read on here there's no need to change the substrate as long as you spot clean. Little Dude rarely poos in his enclosure since he usually does in his soaks, but I feel like his enclosure just stinks! I was gonna change the substrate since I've had him over a month, but then I read where Tom...
I'll post pics, but I don't know how well you can see what I'm talking about - I've noticed dents that weren't there before on Little Dudes shell....? It's very hard to get pics so if you can't help, I understand.. :/ they're at the front on either side of his head. I'm not sure if it's a growth...
So I took Little Dude out yesterday cuz it was finally in the 80s and sunny! What does he do? Finds the tallest patch of grass to hide in. Lol. At least he got SOME rays... :)
Quick question. I tried to find a thread that already answered this, but didn't really locate one...
I lifted my half log out to grab my RF for a soak and supper... I noticed on the back of the log there was mold on the back bottom - about 3/4 inch - and a little on the spag moss behind it in...
Baby red foot - I had read somewhere no protein (like worms, etc) until 6 months old - is that correct?
And s/he's been going after the cuttlebone more (I read that means they aren't getting enough calcium?) - should I be adding the calcium supplement every day to the food?
