I've been looking for a thermostat regulator so that I can keep my CHE at 80 degrees for the night and I am having trouble finding it. Can someone tell me where I can find one or send me a link? It would be really helpful. Thank you.
I read that i need a specific lamp for a che and and for a basking bulb. If this is the case which kind of dome lamp can i use a ceramic heat emitter with? which kind of dome lamp can i use a basking bulb with? Can you tell me which brand to buy please.
I plan to turn a tank into a closed chamber. I also want to leave my heat lamp and basking lamp sitting on top of the tank screen lid. I was wondering will the heat from both lamps melt the screen? Should I buy the metal screen lid or will I be ok with a regular screen lid?
I was looking at tanks for my sulcata tortoise. The height of the tank is bugging me a bit. It is 10 inches high. I am going to get a screen lid to place my basking and heat lamp on top. Is 10 inches to low or should I get a tank that is 12 inches? I don't want my sulcata to burn or something
I actually have read them but i was still a little confused since this is going to be the first time i will have a tortoise. i just want to get everything right. I usually go back to those threads and more questions pop up.
This whole time i thought That a CHE and a basking lamp were the same. Now i know CHE is to keep the ambient at a good temp and a basking lamp has a light to attract them to keep warm plus it is kept at a higher temp.
Are both lamps necessary? Would only having a basking lamp be sufficient...
I live in southern California. This will be the first winter for my hatchling sulcata. Will I need a UV light for the winter or will it be ok to take my sulcata outside for the sun even though it will be a little cold?
Should I give a hatchling sulcata the powdered calcium with D3 or cuttlebone? Should I give both to a hatchling? Will cuttlebone be too hard for a hatchling?
