How long did it take to get your tort to like you

Hello all, I've had Duncan now for maybe a month and a half to two months now and he still doesn't seem to like me in anyway. I do a lot for him, I take him out when it's hot for walks and such and let him roam my house. He really enjoys doing things and climbing and exploring but can't stand to...

    Success!

Duncan, who isn't a picky eater with any new vegetables I give him, absolutely hates weeds and never touches his dandelions! Now finally after about a week of mixing weeds with his favorites, he has eaten his first (that I know of) weed :D Look at dat face. Face of forced victory. --- My...

    Russian tortoises and chard

Hello all, I've got a Russian tortoise and am trying to give him all kinds of healthy goodies. Reading that they eat kale, I picked up what I thought was kale at the store until I (after buying it) was told it was chard. (I'm not a vegetable fanatic myself so I didn't know what kale looked...

    Paranoid owner

New russian tortoise owner here too, yeah I felt/STILL feel the same! If you're really concerned, take them to get a vet check. I just took my boy in and after an examination and a poo test, they found him to be healthy and even trimmed his beak for me. It made me feel so much better. I would...

I have a Russian tortoise and I know that they eat mainly weeds, but I'm unsure of my weeds that I have in my yard, I don't want to happen to give him a poisonous one or anything and I cannot identify these weeds. I thought we had dandelions (something Russian tortoises like) but I heard from my...

    Hello from Washington~

@mikeh for Duncan, his tank, lights, bedding, and the things in his tank altogether it was $85 which I got very lucky on! The family was moving to another state and just wanted to get rid of their tortoises and their things quickly so they weren't too concerned on price.

Is my tort a Russian Tortoise? Pics

@mikeh thank you so much! I did notice when looking at other Russian tortoises their beaks look much shorter than his by far, so I've bought him a cuttlefish bone and I've been looking into ways to help trim his beak down.

Is my tort a Russian Tortoise? Pics

Hello, I've recently bought a tortoise from someone at a garage sale who said he was a red footed tortoise, but when I was researching on my own, he doesn't look at all like a red footed tortoise. This is my first tortoise and I am definitely not an expert at identifying tortoises, but looking...
