I have this stuff growing around my house. Looks like Spanish Bayonet, but it is not hard and sharp like the bayonet. It is incredibly resiliant and can grow quite large. I was wondering if it might be safe to plant along the outside of the sulcata pen for decoration. He wouldn't be able to...
I visited my parents' today and gathered quite a lot of clover and other weeds for the tortoises. My sulcata Tortellini and the new Russian Tortiana really enjoyed the treat!
I don't know of this helps, but I'm in in northeast FL. Also, I believe the second one can grow fairly tall, almost like a tree, but the stalk stays weedy and thin.
We have pretty much finished her outdoor enclosure. It's roughly 8'x6'. There is a heat lamp built into the roof of her house. I think she will like it.
Thank you! From what I was told, she has been kept in an aquarium her entire life, and fed grocery store salad mix. I'm suprised she looks as good as she does!
I just got this tort from a coworker and would like to confirm ID as well as sex. She was told it was a Russian by the previous owner, and that it is 7 yo. She took it to a pet store and the owner told her it was a Golden Greek. I dont care either way. I just want to know which care sheet I...
Ok, I figured that would be the answer. I guess I will have my husband get on building a new pen. The dogs will just have to lose some backyard space. :s
I have a male sulcata of unknown age that weighs about 25 lbs. He has lived outdoors since we got him a few months ago. Soon (probably this weekend), I will be getting a 7 yo Golden Greek tort from a coworker. My intention is to have my husband build a tortoise table indoors this weekend for...
I wish someone would respond to this. I was about to buy one as well, but I'm not sure if I should. It has just started to cool ever so slightly here in northeast FL and I want to be prepared.

I don't think my tort uses his water bowl. I suspect it's too low for him since I sunk it in the ground. But he likes it when I mist him with the hose and will usually urinate during misting. I shoot for at least once a week.

This flowering ground cover is all over the riverbank at my parents' house in northeast Florida. I don't know if it's native or not. ID?

No deer, and it's been a long time since my mom says she's seen any rabbits. So I think those 2 possibilities are out. I hadn't considered that a bird might do it!

My mom had a beautiful planter full of Hens and Chickens on her front patio. I have been looking forward to planting some offshoots in my yard for Tortellini. But something has eaten them all out of the planter!! I cannot imagine what it would have been. Would a squirrel do that?? We live...
