My tortoises are all good eaters. Haha. Anyone have any good ideas for landscaping plants that are tortoise safe but that they won't devour the second they're planted? Lol
Big dilemma here. We recently purchased a home. We had the intention of expanding our side yard to build an awesome tortoise enclosure for our 2:4 group of Russians. When we first looked into it, this was possible. After further exploration and talking to our city planning department, it appears...
My friend is looking for a home for a relatives tortoise. We both weren't sure about the species but it looks like a gopher tortoise? We live in California. Is this species protected? Not sure how to go about finding a new home for her tortoise.
So I planted my seed mix a couple months ago. I'm thinking I seeded it too thickly? Lol. It's all one type of plant that has made a little jungle for my Russians. They seem to like it though. I will have to try again I suppose. Could it also be that I planted in winter and only some of the seeds...
I found this tortoise on craigslist. I'm debating getting her because I feel bad, but I'm not exactly sure how to help her or how much can really be done! Thoughts? What would you do for her?
The tortoise is in Vallejo CA which is a couple hours from me, so not really sure I want to make the...

Awesome deal! I can't take her but I am interested in the tank... So if anyone wants the tortoise but not the tank, I can help you out. ;)
I know that this tortoise may be a little young to definitely tell the sex, but based on these pics can anyone make an educated guess? Based on the first pic I thought maybe male, but based on the second I started leaning towards female, although the pic isn't the greatest.
Almost finished with the outdoor enclosure! We just have to finish the covering. You can see my Russian tortoise Simaku in the first pic. My two year old daughter is watching him romp through the wild flowers that are growing. :) The pen was built in a way that if we need to we can section it...
We have a great outdoor setup and are looking for a female Russian Tortoise in the Central Valley area or surrounding areas of CA. Also willing to pay shipping for further distances. You can contact me at [email protected].
Thanks!!

Hi everyone! My name is alyssa and I'm from Northern California. I am planning on buying my first tortoise very soon. I live in a small apartment complex (only four units) but we share a very large yard. I just asked all our neighbors and landlord if they would be ok with us building a decent...
