i would agree with cowboy ken even if the tortoise cant see that array of colour properly theres no point in risking it a ceramic emitter i think is best choice no light nice heat and they are quite cheap and last ages... i got mine on ebay for like 10 euro.

when you say night time bulb what kind ?

can you give a comparison for the noise if its clicking its ok my tortoise does it some times when he over extends his jaw to bit somethig big other wise i dont know

ives got the ceramic in a reflective holder and next to it the uv bulb so the tortoise can bask under the uv bulb while getting heat from the ceramic . its cold in ireland so i have the heat emitter on 24 hours a day encloser goes from 32 degreesc to the cold section of 20 .

hey do you have some night time heating like a heat emitter for the tort ? basking and uvb are fine but only for daytime he might be really cold at night .
