Sadly enough, I seem to have jinxed the weather...its been grey skies all day today. Cold enough to wear a jumper and a helluva cold wind. I guess one day of sun is all we are allowed for now
Hopefully. I'm an outdoorsy type and I've been in a mild depression with this damn weather recently. I love pottering about my garden or walking through the woods. But it's been so crappy recently.
The weather has FINALLY started to change here in Aberdeenshire. And as I have been cultivating the dandilions in my garden, Slash has his own slice of nirvana now! Plus the bonus of free food and natural sunlight means less expense for me. Winning
Or do what I did....bring them home when the other half is out, and she had no option BUT to let me keep them! They were only 3-4 inches when I got them, and she didn't know they would reach 2 feet long....as Tom says though, they are 50% tail....
Hi. Just to give you some frame of reference, this is Batman. He is 25 inches. He lives is a 4x3 Viv. His buddy Robin is the same, but slightly slimmer and he lives in the top one which is 4x2 feet.
It was in a rock pool in the mountains above Marmaris in Turkey. We went on a jeep safari and I noticed him swimming so wanted to get a photo with him. I ended up with a few people around me asking questions about the " tortoise"...so I explained the difference between them all, then one kid...
Absolutely! I sure wasn't offended by it. My wife thought it was hilarious. I even found a Praying Mantis at a little place we stopped. Folk were scared of all these "horrible bugs.."...I was too busy collecting them and taking photos! For a guy who lives in Aberdeenshire, where the most exotic...
It was. I was walking along the seafront with my wife and she spotted it. Very friendly wee thing. Just sitting on pavement. So I sat and handled it for a bit before sitting him in a tree so he wouldn't get squished by the many motorbikes going past.
I also caught this guy in a rock pool high...
VERY true Tom. In early January our region had its worst rainfall since records began...Royal Deeside, where the Queen has her Balmoral Castle, had millions of pounds of damage to properties. The village I live in, in particular the street I live in, had dozens of houses flooded when the river...
Yeah it really hasn't been the best weather here so far. Been around 10 Celcius so very cold for them to be out. Or so I thought. He's had a night in a cosy Viv and some fresh water....just hope he survives once he's back where I found him.
So it turns out he is protected. I'm heading back to where I found him today and will send him on his way. Ach well. Thought I was saving the little guy...ill make sure he gets back to safety. He's at least had a nice warm night in my house. Like a holiday! Thanks for the responses.
I genuinely didn't know that lizards were native to this country!
I'll have a look at legalities and if not I will release it. I just hate the thought of it becoming food for a crow or seagull.
Hi guys. Been a while since I was last here...feels like forever... Anyway, I was with my wife today up in the North East coast of Scotland, Lossiemouth to be exact, where the temperature isn't great at the moment, when we found this little guy walking along the wall at the beach. Clearly the...
A quick couple of updates!
Both guys are doing great, eating well and exploring their enclosures, which I shake up now and again to keep things interesting for them....
I decided to trim a tree in my garden, and what better way to use the wood than create a ranch for my boys?!
Robin
The...
