Russian Tortoise For Adoption Finger Lakes of NY

Hi, I am looking to find a good home for my female Russian tortoise. I am unable to properly take care of her with my schedule becoming crazy. I'm not sure how old she is since I got her from Petco, but I've had her for three years, and she is a little over 5 inches in length if that's...

    Clarice has an outdoor enclosure!

These pictures are only a day or two old; I actually had to weed some of the seedlings out. I also cleared another small area of grass so it doesn't seem so cluttered. It looks busy though, and she likes it!

    Clarice has an outdoor enclosure!

She paced the western wall three times. Is this normal for her to do until she is used to it? She did that then went inside her underground hide.

    Clarice has an outdoor enclosure!

We don't have a Home Depot close to us, so this morning I went out and laid some more boards down and covered them with soil, hopefully that's enough to prevent an underground escape. I also replaced the underground hide with a bigger pot:

    Clarice has an outdoor enclosure!

The two geraniums I put in with their pots are staying like that. I plan on keeping them alive through the winter (hopefully). Same with the begonia. She's not too fond of the geranium yet, though. The two bright colored ones are coleus and they unfortunately die over the winter but look nice in...

    Clarice has an outdoor enclosure!

It is 9 ft x 8 ft. My parents didn't think we would have to bury any lumber underground but now that it's done and they have seen her attempts, we are digging some logs on the fence side and the side adjacent the one that in the picture has a log laying against the ground. We did that with the...

Koi fish need re-homing (in New York)

I posted earlier about this, but no one seemed interested at the time. I have two butterfly koi fish that are each 5 inches long. They are in desperate need of re-homing. My parents bought them thinking they were small goldfish (that's what the employees told them) so they got them a ten gallon...

    Is a small enclosure practical?

I just finished adding her second story. She was exploring it more than she did last year. I am still going to go for the bookshelf though, maybe I could even add this enclosure on to the bookshelf...

    Is a small enclosure practical?

I did have a second level once... she didn't seem to like it. She never used it and acted terrified of it. I don't know why... I know it's not best, but I guess what I mean is; is it okay during the winter? There is still a possibility of her getting a larger enclosure, i will just have to work...

    Is a small enclosure practical?

I've posted in the past about my concern for Russian's small enclosure, which is only 4'x2', and I have recently been wondering if the conditions my tortoise is going to be living in for a few more years (three at most) is really practical. She is a little bigger than 5" now, and she gets really...

    Outdoor enclosure for Slash

How did you remove the grass so quickly? I will be doing an outdoor enclosure and that could really shorten the amount of time it takes to make it. Thanks.

    Barrel Cactus

I just purchased a huge barrel cactus from my school's greenhouse and I was wondering if the fruit or flowers are okay to feed to my two tortoises every once in a while? Maybe once a week when it's blooming? It is developing some flowers now, so it'd be nice if they were good tortoise food.

Why does my Russian tortoise stay buried?

It was probably around 110 F. I didn't have a temp gun, and the gauge I used said it was only 90 F.

Where to Get a Tortoise Online

I got one of my tortoises online. I got her from LLL Reptile, and they were great about it. I recommend them.
