    Cuttlebone

    My DT's luv cuttlebones. I try to remove the hard layer, but don't always suceed. The adults & yearlings don't seem to care, but the hatchlings need to have the hard layer removed. I just use my finger nails or whatever else is handy and chip away.

    Thanks for the help. We tied off each end of the cord and then cut the cord. Before starting i cooled them off in the refrigerator to slow them down. Everything looks good, no bleeding and they are running all over their enclosure and eating like nothing ever happened. Wayne

    We have a 40plus yr old male desert tortoise and a 30 yr old female. Have had them both since the female was a hatchling. We also have (8) 1 yr old hatchlings, a 1 week old and 2 day old twins hatched from 1 egg and both joined to the sac. Anyone have experience handling "twins"?

    RE: Welcome to TortoiseForum.org ! We have a 40plus and a 30 yr old desert tortoise, (8) 1 yr old hatchlings, a 4 day old and (2) 8 hr old twins (hatchlings). The last 2 were hatched from 1 egg and are joined thru a umbilical type cord. Anyone have sugestions on how to handle the twins.
