    Hawks and tortoises

I meant to say I am in Arizona. I didn't even think of owls. We have an owl in the area also. I feel better that I covered it. If they try to land on it , it is not very strong. Just enough to keep them off I hope

    Hawks and tortoises

Well to play it safe I covered the area. I think it may have been a Harris Hawk. I didn't see others around though. Usually they are in packs I think. I had four get a pet chicken. It was awful. They do have hiding areas but they are protected now.

    Hawks and tortoises

I know this has been discussed over the years. We have moved to a new place. At the last place I saw a hawk land on the fence and just stare at one of my torts. I have three Leopard tortoises. One is about 11 inches, one about 7 inches and one about 6 inches. The hawk never came back after...

    only eating greens

Yes, this is what happens if I add anything to the greens. They stop eating completely. I just don't want them to get hungry because none of them were fed that great early on.

The Spotted Birthday Boy (well I think it's a boy LOL)

Yes he IS beautiful ! So when determining sex is it the size or age that is best to determine sex. My 2 year olds that are small (4 inches) as of right now they are female for sure. Can that change at this point ? I have a large male.

    only eating greens

Thank you Tom. There are quite a few of the same weeds around here but not a huge variety in my yard. I'm afraid I would be giving them something bad if I chop the weeds. so I was just thinking if they were interested in them they may pick at them and leave any that were bad for them. Some...

    only eating greens

All three of my Leopards will only eat a variety of greens. They won't touch hibiscus , flowers, fig leaves or grass, weeds etc. Any idea how to get them to eat any of these things. Also do any of you give cape honeysuckle ? Thank you

my boy SAMPSON! 6 YERS OLD

I too would like to know if its actually a male with the split scute. I wish I could get my three to eat grass or weeds. They have no interest in grass. No interest in hibiscus or flowers. Only greens. It frustrates me. All three were not raised properly so I don't want them to get too...

    bottom beak problem

I've just discovered that one of the Leopard tortoises I've had for a couple months has a slightly overgrown beak on the bottom. The bottom is growing over the top. I can push the lower beak in with my fingers. I am going to try to file or trim the lower beak but its very difficult. If I...
