My stomach is still in knots, and I woke up 2 hours ago!
Ohmigod. Ok, here goes.
Not sure where I was, but I was walking around with a bowl. A bowl filled with live boxie hatchlings, and I was popping them in my mouth and chewing them, like I was eating popcorn.
WHAT IN THE WORLD??? What's...
A few hours ago I came home from a week away to find my adult Ornate's eyes swollen shut. There is no discharge from them or from his nose or mouth. I put him in his water bowl and he pawed and pawed at his eyes until they opened. Once opened, his beautiful eyes are looking pretty inflamed...
My 10 month old Eastern developed an abscess over the weekend. On Sunday the vet lanced and cleaned it, gave me Baytril and we went home. Today it looked like it was back, still swollen and I could see white pus under the skin.
She's a trooper, still eating well but while pawing at her mouth...
I rescued this tiny guy last week and I need a hand id'ing him. I think he's either a Florida or maybe ornate?
His shell is colourful, head and neck have some yellow but his limbs are plain beige. Thanks!
I rescued this tiny little male (pretty sure it's a male) 4 days ago. He's a Florida boxie, 5 years old although he's only 3 1/2" long. Among other things, there's something wrong with his shell, not sure what it is. At first I thought it was a "water line", as if he had been kept as a water...
I gave Princesse her very first pinkies. I didn't know if she would prefer them live or dead so I gave her one of each. She didn't care either way, she devoured them both in no time! Hearing us in the background is pretty funny too ;-)

Yesterday I bought some heat cables to warm up the substrate in my enclosure. Now that I took everything out of it I was about to put the cables in, when I saw the instructions say "do not bury cables in substrate".
What the heck??? I'm fairly certain all the posts about these cables I read on...
If I'd been at work today, I would have come home tonight to 2 dead turtles. The stand for my MVB came off the wall and the lamp fell straight down into the enclosure. Princesse's basking spot. Needless to say the stands are now screwed tight to the wall.
Lesson of the day: Screw double-sided...
Holy cow holy cow holy cow. Ok. As I was about to place the salad on the flat slate feeding rock, I noticed that the substrate around it was moving. I thought maybe I was breathing on it but when I moved away it just kept moving, up and down, as if something is underneath. So I grabbed a stick...
I know that it's normal for my 4 month old 3 toed boxie to burrow herself. My question is around what age should I expect her to be mainly above the substrate rather than underneath? I dig her up everyday for her soak and meal but, you know, I'm just wondering. I had an adult 3 toe and now I...
This morning right after I soaked Crystal, I noticed an extra scute growing between two existing scutes. I verified with pics I took 4 weeks ago and it was NOT present then. On the one hand, it means she's grown but, I'm worried about the cause. She's a 4 month old 3 toed boxie. What does it...
Oh my gosh! A 3 year old Red Foot only 3 1/2 inches??? My 3 year old is 6"... And look at that barren box, pitiful :(

Hello everyone!
This is the perfect place to start and introduce myself and my girls (they're girls until proven otherwise hihi).
My very first turtle was a snapping turtle my dad brought home when I was 9 years old. I was instantly fascinated by its dinosaur-like appearance, the mix of...
