Was soaking my tortoise today and discovered some black spots on his shell. They don't stick out they just look like part of the shell. Could this be a sign of sickness? Or is it just part of his growing shell?

Help! My Russian tortoise won't eat his vitamins! I got him two days ago, so I'm pretty new at this. The pet store was out of vitamin supplement and it's a two hour drive. So I bot the pellets that said were rich in vitamins but he won't eat it because they,re hard and colorful. What should I do??
