You would have to wait a couple weeks to see any veins if you put a light up to them. If the females were with males then it could be a good chance they are fertile.
My one female last year laid non fertile ones so I'm hoping this year changes that. Good luck.
I always find with babies a tube uvb with a regular incandescent light bulb works really good. Good natural sunshine does great things as well if you can take him out for a few hours.
Maybe to young, but that tail is very short. My Marginated males have such long tails you can see a huge difference between the male and female. Either way awesome looking tortoise and a great species to keep.
Just an update on these, I really like these a lot. All my species of torts use these a lot, and my Marginated torts seem to use them as a mating box lol.
So I think I'll be getting more in the future for more of my pens.
Going to be honest I'm not sure I wrote them and they said it's made of solid cedar-stained fir wood? So I have no idea.
It is the precision pet log cabin dog house. I was not going to use it as a heated hide, just a place they can go to hide or get out of rain. These are for Marginated...
So I got a few of these dog houses they were on sale. However after they came I noticed they were made of fir wood, but they stained it with a cedar.
Now I know Cedar is bad, my question is does anyone know if the cedar stain will lose its smell/fumes? These will be outside always in there big...
Landscape Timbers make nice enclosures. I dig most of my grass out of they enclosures, and just leave a small patch with clover, and other weeds. Plants and shrubs make nice shade spots, and gives them something to eat as well
He looks good from your pictures. As long as he is alert, and is eating and popping then I wouldn't worry to much. Throw in some other foods with the foods he is used to, to get him to eat more. I love feeding these guys broadleaf weeds.
Great article. I would love to see some pictures of these types of hides. It's about 90 degrees and humid here right now. At what temp are you guys worrying about heat strokes at?
