Yea I've also caught him what I would describe as chewing air.

he seems really relaxed so I don't think it's anything to do with breathing and its not a continuous things, its just once a day or every other day i catch him doing a little yawn

troubles looks so cutee when he yawns! and ive been noticing him yawning more and more.. he sleeps all the time so he can't be tired is he bored or just being lazy?

Here are some pictures! I tried to get them as focused as possible. I think Ive been taking good care of him :( he's been growing? the spacing in between scutes have all came in since i got him, especially noticable in the bottom middle and on the sides of the top.

After giving my tortoise a bath i noticed a piece of his scute had flaked off and into the towel. His shell is hard but theres pieces of his scutes that seem flakey. He has been this way since i adopted him. The top of his shell especially has a lot of pieces missing. I bought him that way...

That explains why he sniffs me sometimes haha he is trying to decide what seasoning will go best with a meal made of me :P

What do you mean tortoises are known for being cruel? I think sometimes hes trying to seduce me into taking him out haha
