One of my regular customers is a woman named Helen. Helen and Jack were married for over 60 years. They were high school sweethearts, raised children, grand children, great-grand children, and built a long-lasting life together. Jack passed away last October. He had been sick for some time...
I have had this page up for some time, but it is lacking seriously in "likes." I really want to go more active with it, and post up daily pictures and facts about reptiles, care articles, etc. but honestly, with only a handful of likes, it seems kind of pointless.
If anyone would be...
I adopted three gorgeous little Three Toeds from Lisa (turtlegirl7.) I just love them, they are all way too precious ;)
Special thanks to Barb (wellington) for both bringing them to my attention and also for transporting them all the way from Chicago ;) It was really nice getting to meet...
I am SOOOOO totally NOT sorry that we took all of these hamsters. They are the most HILARIOUS thing I have ever seen in MY LIFE. They get into these funny little battle-royales (just playing, not actually injuring each other) where the whole group just dog piles, rolling all over the place and...
I am helping Lisa (turtlegirl7) get a little more exposure for her two aquatic turtles needing homes.
If you can help Lisa out, send her a PM here on the forum or email her at [email protected]
Doing rescue means I know other people that also do rescue ;) I have adopted several of my animals from a small animal rescuer that lives in the same town as me.
Recently she took in a BUNCH of animals from a hoarder/flipper (we have a few in the area, sadly.) Amongst them were some...
I was going to wait until I had a good pic to post, but oh well ;)
On the 3rd I got another BIG female Russian. She is as big as Innya. (http://www.tortoiseforum.org/Thread-My-newest-rescue-Russian#axzz1zwjXFvYL) She has the same "stuck" scutes from being raised too dry, but she does not...
Down the road from us is this house, and one day last summer while we were driving by we saw this GORGEOUS brindled Shar Pei. We have a fawn colored Shar Pei, Lily, who has been with us almost 8 years now. This gorgeous pup turned both our heads, he was that flashy. I think I may have seen...
About two and a half years ago, in December, we went through a 3 day power outage. We had a generator, but it quit working after about 8 hours and we were unable to repair it or rent another in time. At the end of the three days, I went from 27 aquariums of varying sizes and biotopes to THREE...
Many people erroneously believe that snails feed exclusively off of algae or "poop" that is in the aquarium, but this is not the case at all. (In fact, they don't eat poop, but they PRODUCE a ton of it! ;) )
In order to make sure your snails receive the proper nutrition, they have certain...
Last night when I got home from work, my husband told me that he had checked on all the tortoises, and could only find four of my seven Russians. Later he looked again, and all seven were accounted for.
This lead to me having a dream that I walked out to the Russian enclosure, and all of a...
So, first I wanted to show you my new moss log ;) It is actually in my Hingeback enclosure. The distance between the uprights is 8 feet, to give you an idea of the size of the log. It weighs a LOT, let me tell you. I ended up with a smashed and very bruised hand before we finishes...
They are about a year and a half old now. I hadn't realized how big they had gotten until I compared these two pictures.
Top right hand side, see the little buggers? See the size compared to their enclosure?
I am actually in the process of expanding that enclosure. Good thing, too...
First, the Redfoot pond.
Second, the Manouria kids hanging out in the "playpen" while their enclosure gets a make over and appreciable expansion.
Old Manouria enclosure -
And the Russians, weathering the storm in relative comfort.
This is a neat little behavior that I have witnessed many times before (whenever it rains or I use the sprinkler) that really shows just how adaptable these critters really are.
(Sorry for the poor quality pics, had to take these from my phone as my camera was dead :( )
What I mean by...
Continuing to work on my left arm. I am to the point where just the background is left, and then it is on to the right! (My right arm will have some color where my left arm does not.)
Latest piece.
And the whole thing so far.
Slowly but surely getting my sleeve done! (I'll be adding another piece in a couple of weeks :D :D :D )
This new one is also my artwork. This particular tat is also a sort of tribute to Peter Steele. He was the lead singer of Type O Negative and Carnivore, and one of my all time favorite...
Medium flat rate Priority box.... Gives a whole new meaning to "if it fits is ships" doesn't it? ;)
Keep in mind these are not kittens, lol. They weigh 5-7 lbs each. The black one is Kasha, the silver tabby Christopher Allen, and the tortie/tabby is momma's little Honey Bunny Baby Bear...
