    Sex my Redfoot

Agree with pacific chelonians. Absolutely and definitively female. Females can have a slight concavity to the plastron but nowhere as pronounced as the male. And pacific chelonians is right. Male has a dramatic and easily recognizable tail to accommodate their elongated equipment. Also the shot...

I assure you she is far from 'miserable' and her future is bright. Box turtles are hardy little animals and will readily shake off much worse maladies than any she manifests. And your goodwill and concern assures me that she landed in the right hands. Best to you and your son and new girl.

Terrapene carolina triunguis, the Three-toed box turtle, as you can see by the Latin name, is just one kind of Eastern box turtle, Terrapene carolina carolina. Each of the two can have either three or four toes on the hind foot. That characteristic shouldn't be strictly relied on for...

It's post #4 from this morning. She's been dehydrated over a long period and would benefit from frequent water baths and provision of succulent veggies in her diet. PETA

It is tedious and tiresome to listen to the kowtowing to, and ranting of, some of the most prominent and opinionated members of the forum on this topic. This discussion is far too politically charged and has breached the guidelines of the forum to be open, family friendly, and welcome to all...

    Box Turtle in My Garden

Not a good idea to publish specific box turtle location data. There are poachers and collectors ready and willing to swoop in and clean out entire populations. I now know four towns across North and South Carolina that will be visited over the 4th of July weekend. Great way to spend the holiday...
