    New Desert Tortoise (Southern California)

Hi Tom, Yes species, end of the day and my brain was half asleep so that was my error haha. Warm soaking is what I have told her and I am giving her my 40 gallon tank that she will use for now. Ultimate goal is an outside enclosure when the tort is big enough. Should this be treated somewhat...

    New Desert Tortoise (Southern California)

Hi All, Helping a friend out getting her indoor Desert Tortoise enclosure set up. I have two Sulcatas that are already outside but don’t want to give wrong info since they are a different breed. The tortoise is 2 months old and she will be using a 40 gallon tank for the meantime. Any advice...

    Sulcatas in Nashville

So I may be moving to Nashville from Southern California by the end of the year and want to see if I can get some help on some prep before I go. I have my night box which I would have to add more heat too but ultimately would build a insulated heated shed for them. Let me know what everyone...

    Turtle or Tortoise?

It’s my sisters roommates and they have them with Sulcatas. Got concerned if they are taking care of it correctly. Western Box Turtle looks correct.

    Water Feature in Outdoor Enclosure

Awesome idea. Thank you for the advice. My current water dishes are in their night box and are causing damage to the wood. This will be a good fix.

    Water Feature in Outdoor Enclosure

I am looking for a hard plastic something a couple inches deep but just not too big. Will most likely put rock on the bottom for traction.

    Water Feature in Outdoor Enclosure

So I noticed my Sulcatas love being sprayed by the hose when it is hot outside. I was thinking of adding a shallow small water area for them to drink and also soak when they want. I know it will have to be shallow which will be easy to clean up also. Any thoughts on this or recommendations?

    I think Cheese Weed

That’s so awesome, thanks Tom. I pulled a bunch last weekend and threw it away, now I regret it haha. I still have a bunch growing and fortunately the big one in the picture is right next to their enclosure. I’ll start introducing it into their meals. I am sure they will love it.

    I think Cheese Weed

It looks exactly the same. I have not seen any flowering as of yet. I have it everywhere in my yard and want to give them as many natural elements as possible.

    I think Cheese Weed

Saw many post about this but couldn’t get a clear answer. I think this is Cheeseweed and it is growing everywhere in my yard. The picture posted is the biggest one. Can Sulcatas eat this so I don’t waste it?

    Night box in the works

I actually have a Kane mat in there too. Sorry I should have specified more on my post. They ran out of the larger size that I originally ordered so I went smaller. We had a random dip in temp here that only happens maybe once a year in Cali. 33 degrees at night. Just checked now and the temp...

    Night box in the works

Sounds good. Don’t plan on putting substrate. Was actually shocked that my tort went down the ramp and up it on its own. Temp is currently 76 degrees inside. Going to check it through the night to make sure it stays in that range or higher.
