My baby Eastern Box is throwing her bedding into her pond.
It's not a big deal, but she is doing it for a reason. Maybe for humidity?
Also, she will get a hair up her *** occasionally.
Today she went medieval on her eggs and fruit. And gave me the EYEBALL!
The EYEBALL is very disconcerting.
My Eastern Box Turtle was run over by a bicycle and is missing a front foot.
It seems to be healing up but is still red and raw, but this front leg is getting very muscular. I keep her in a soft bedding.
Since she is still growing I think it will heal over when she is full grown.
It still...
I made a special feed for my EBT that consists of dried apple, crab and eggs and a little reptivite. She is pigging out!
I also sprinkle her bedding with essential oils and that's what she smells like. This is potent stuff so you only need a few drops maybe one or two times a month. I think...
The LED lights work and it makes sense. The LED UV light is very specific.
My little Eastern Box Turtle is tanning very nicely under it. She is eating her bedding and is blending in almost perfectly.
Her heat lamp needs a different bulb. Food lamps do make their eyes hurt. But get a...
I found my little Eastern Box on the Bicycle trail here in the US State of Virginia. She was recently run over by a bicycle that resulted in an amputated front foot.
She is doing great - BUT -
I know her amputated front foot is still painful.
Is there some kind of 'shoe', 'sock'...
I'm sort of uneasy about it since it's a heat lamp to keep 'food' warm but she loves it. Turtles/Tortoises are the ultimate sunbathers.
She played in her pond today under the heat lamp and DID NOT eat her food.
If she won't eat eggs and mashed fruit then the food gets stored AND I DON't try...
A common myth is that all of creation sits on the back of an infinitely immense World Turtle (Tortoise).
The Turtle (Tortoise) swims (plods) thru a cosmic void...
This is her on her corn tortilla with fruit eggs and reptivite!
She want's to brumate but still eats and goes in her pond.
Corn Tortillas are perfect for little baby tortoises/turtles when you put the tortillas in a microwave! A perfect turtle/tortoise baby platform to engorge themselves on...
Do I have to get my Baby Eastern Box Turtle a Pedicure. She got run over by a bicycle and her front leg is amputated and her rear leg was broken but is fine now.
Her toenails are really strange. I'm too afraid to clip them. A couple of them look like something from Dracula!
I have a baby Eastern Box Turtle, and her appetite is almost gone now. But she lives at room temperature so I don't let her Brumate too often. I dig her out maybe every three or four days. She's a baby EBT. I put her in her pond under her heat and UV lamp and then I turn them off after a day...
My nieces think my Eastern Box Turtle needs a 'friend'!
They have a pet salamander that can be a 'friend' to my Eastern Box. I'm thinking a tasty friend!
My turtle is a female and perfectly content living in decaying vegetation and eating eggs and fruit and some greens!
It's a touchy subject.
My Eastern Box has grown a lot during the summer and fall.
I know they brumate during fall and winter. She is still a little turtle maybe 3-4 years old.
Can I feed her less often? I feed her once a day but sometimes she refuses to eat now.
Also I hate cleaning up turtle poop. If someone...
At one time I was trying to measure her, but it's too much effort and then I got a very accurate weight scale for her.
At this rate of growth she will be bigger than Godzilla in a few years (hopefully not as destructive!).
She will not eat greens! Her diet is eggs and fruit with reptile...
My Eastern Box is becoming Godzilla like. She is gaining size and weight within weeks!
She won't eat her turtle food or greens but loves eggs and fruit.
If the East Coast is destroyed by some reptilian monster, I may be to blame!
This really surprised me but my Eastern Box Turtle has incredible eyesight. It can see me easily from yards away.
It's only 3-4 years old now and is learning to retract into it's shell and it goes to it's pond but I need to make the pond more accessible. It's hard for her to climb in.
