Yes, when I wake mine up to eat be still eats a ton. He just seems much lazier then usual. He looks very healthy and has no symptoms of sickness. So I think he is just naturally slowing down and if he was wild caught he probably definitely noticed the season change. It's hard to miss in Indiana ?
Hello! So this is my first tortoise and I speculate he was wild caught do to certain things. But since the beginning of November he has been sleeping a lot and all burrowed deep into the substrate. During the summer I would have him outdoors during the day and indoors during the night but I live...
My Russian tortoise who has pinworms that we just finished treating now appears to be getting sick with an upper respiratory. I'm trying to help rehab him and get him feeling better but I fear he is just getting worse. I will be taking him to the Vet but I want to know if there is anything I can...
Just an update on my Gimli, we finished his last dose today and he is doing good. A lot more energy and definitely eating more. Having him treated was definitely the right call!
Yes exactly! They said that these types of pinworms shouldn't be transmittable to humans but with 3 young children I just don't want to risk it. Also with 2 dogs. During treatment should I put him in quarantine from his enclosure? I know that I will have to do a completely new substrate and...
Yes this was the amount in his poop on our way to the vet yesterday. That is A LOT of pinworms to me. I understand that some is normal but this seems like too many to me.
Thanks for your response. That's what I'm finding out in my research. I thought maybe they had a specific type for tortoises but they definitely don't. He is my first tortoise so I just want him to be heathy and happy. Makes me sad seeing that he isn't eating anymore. I'll probably contact my...
Hello!
My Juvenile Russian tortoise has pinworms. The vet just called and said that was the only worm they found from the fecal matter. She didn't feel it was necessary to treat him but his most recent poop was riddled with pinworms and he isn't eating as much. I feel like he needs to be...
We got it from Southern Reptiles which looks like a reputable breeder. We found them from this forum and they have a good following on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. I'd like to believe they were honest with us and he just looks WC but really is CB.
Oh he is very curious! He was very active as soon as we got him and started eating straight away. Even ate some from us and then investigated his new home. Didn't act shy at all at first. As the day went on he started getting more tired and you could tell he just wanted rest from his long journey.
