Very Sad! Very sorry for your loss.
It really P's me off to see people do that to defenseless animals. See it a lot with reptiles - they think 'Oh well, it's just a tortoise'. Karma will get 'em.
RIP Shellster
I've read strong recommendations against keeping more than one tortoises in the same enclosure. What about Box turtles and Wood turtles? Are they any more tolerant, or does the same go for them? Also, is the room needed for their enclosure comparable to torts, or can they be housed in...
Zero - forget Home Depot & Lowes. Visit your small local mom & pop nurseries. Ask them about spraying - they will be honest. Look for butterflies and bees among the plants. Also, if they have edibles, butterfly plants and MIlkweed, they most likely do not spray.
I'm in the landscape industry and have an addendum to respectfully include your statement regarding pesticides on plants. Many/most small growers do not use pesticides on all of their plants. Take Milkweed, herbs, etc. There are no pesticides used there. In many small nurseries I've been in...

OK - ZEROPILOT (Redfoot Wrangler)* has me almost convinced to get a Redfoot with the pix of what they can eat. That is a great post by the way. I want to get a juvenile that can safely and comfortably kept outdoors here in warm, muggy FL. So, what is the size / age that a *single* Redfoot...
I feel your pain. We had a serious raccoon problem In Orlando a few years ago and nothing worked. Soon as one or even a family was trapped, others took over the territory. Fast forward to Sarasota - same issue plus feral cats. Then in came coyotes. Have not seen one cat in 3-4 years & no...
This has GOT to be a learned behavior. No way this is instinct!
Had a neighbor with a new cypress wood fence that kept their dogs in. No breaks and completely fenced around the back yard. Came home one day and a 5' gator had climbed the fence and was in their pool! Found scrapes all over a...
No need to fog or cover the glass. That is an old myth, and it indicates you've been reading the old wrong info. This is part of Tom (The Dog Trainer)'s response to a previous like inquiry.
