This is the tortoise having a bath just one minute into it. It seemed to get her out of her lethargy if only to run and get away from me and the bowl! She had a poo in the bowl that looks more normal but I get that worms could still be a problem. I'll call a vet and see what they can do.
I'll persevere with the soaking.
I feel that she freaks out when I put her in her bath. The bowl is high sided and as soon as I put her in she starts turning around trying to get out. And yes, she poos and pees. I thought she did that because she was scared.
My Greek tortoise has been a bit shy and less active lately. She stays in the same spot most of the day, she goes out in the sun a bit but then goes back to her usual spot.
She eats fruit or veggies if I give her some and grass. And until today her poos were normal (see the end of the video for...
I have added a barrier between 2 parts of the garden so now the female should be ok. I think they get a good soaking when the sprinkler system is on which is often in summer. They seem to be doing well other than the recent chasing.
Just to clarify, these aren't pet tortoises. In Morocco tortoises roam around in the wild. They've been in the garden before I moved in the house and they take care of themselves. The green area is about 1000 square metres, so there's plenty of space, grass, leaves and the like. I also give them...
Thank you for that.
I've got a friend who is keen to adopt the most agressive male so I can easily start fixing the situation for her. And then monitor how she's doing with just one male.
The males were doing fine by themselves before the female arrived. I haven't seen them fighting or harassing...
I got a large Greek female and 2 males, a medium sized and a small one.
The 3 of them live in my garden which is about 1000 square metres (10763.9 square feet).
The males used to encounter the female infrequently and harass her but I've noticed in the past 2 weeks this happens at least once a...
Hi
I have 3 wild Greek tortoises in my garden, one large female, a medium male and a small male. 2 were already here when I moved in and the large one moved in about 3 or 4 months ago.
I have a large block around 1,500 sq metres so they generally don't bump into each other though I've caught...
When I moved into a house I found there were 2 tortoises in the garden and last week I found one more. All three are different sizes and look a bit different but I think they're all greek tortoises.
All was good until yesterday I found the smallest of the three chasing the new tortoise which was...
