    Am I Murdering my Tortoise

Just to clarify. Taken out of context this could be misunderstood. Does this mean that MVB's result in dry conditions, and those dry conditions cause pyramiding?

    Take 2 on the Enclosure

"Too much outside time is bad for babies. It slows their growth tremendously and causes pyramiding. I've done many side-by-side experiments with clutch mates over the years to determine this fact. My general rule is an hour of access to sunshine per inch of tortoise. Once they reach around 5...

    Should sulcata breeding be regulated?

    Should sulcata breeding be regulated?

The existence of this debate thread seems to suggest that it is not obvious. I'm new to Sulcatas, but it does seem that 're-homing' posts both here and in other forums are vastly outnumbered by the 'look at my new baby' and 'I'm a new owner and I need advice' posts. That seems to suggest that...

    Baby Sulcata Growth and Pyramiding?

I have a ceramic heat lamp and have been researching humidifiers for times when Florida weather conditions aren't naturally ideal. It does seem counter-intuitive that artificially recreating the same temperatures and humidity that exists 'outside' would be preferred.

    Baby Sulcata Growth and Pyramiding?

Please clarify "outside all day". I have been giving babies time to explore in the yard in the sunshine using the guideline: "My general rule is an hour of access to sunshine per inch of tortoise." Then, I soak them and bring them 'inside', to an wooden enclosure with a screened top and no...

    Baby Sulcata Growth and Pyramiding?

I've got a wooden, open air enclosure on my lanai in Central Florida. Humidity is measured currently at 88%. Inside the hide it is 99%. No humidifier. No UV lighting. Just spaghum moss, sprayed occasionally. There are times of the year when supplemental light and heat may be needed, but...

    Baby Sulcata Growth and Pyramiding?

Are you measuring the temperature and humidity within the hide? For most of the year in Florida they're probably favorable naturally, but you should measure. Do they get natural sunlight? Might they be getting too much? "If your tortoise can get some regular sunning time in a safe outdoor...

    Baby Sulcata Growth and Pyramiding?

"In Florida, even though you have higher humidity, the humidity of the microclimate created in an enclosures (both indoors and outdoors) is very different than the meteorological humidity. An enclosure, and how it is set up, creates its own microclimate." What does this even mean? I know one...

The Turtle Source- a customer review.

I had a good experience with The Turtle Source. Due to high Florida summer temperatures, they stated that they could not ship direct to my house, but I could pick it up at a nearby UPS facility. They texted me shortly after I had picked them up to confirm receipt. They seemed to be very...
